amandamas & other things

Last night had some good and some not soooo good events.
The not so good: (because I always take the bad news first)…

  • Amanda had a flat tire. (it was 20ish degrees and dark
  • Matt went to change it in my Suburban (that’s not a bad thing)
  • My battery died while they were changing it! (they left lights on or something)
  • It took a while to get them all fixed and home (me izzy and em were home watching biggest loser.
  • Then matt realized my car was on empty and needed battery terminals cleaned.
  • The GOOD!

  • Amanda made an A in College Algebra!!!!! (even with crazy teacher)
  • Amanda made an A in English Comp I
  • Amanda made an A in High School History!
  • We got a new dog daughter (after our puppy was stolen)!
  • So, we celebrated last night because Amanda thought I wasn’t showing enough excitement and I reminded her I show my happiness on the inside… but I was very excited because she has literally lost sleep about that College Algebra class and this is her SR year and she is going to college in the afternoons and the college classes count as two HS grades and she has a 4.0 average and is up for Valedictorian and if she were to make a B she wouldn’t get to wear the cool white gown with all those cords… (how’s that for a run-on sentence?)

I let each kid (including Matt but not including Iz because she was already in bed but woke up I think because she knew she missed out so I may let her open something small today to make up for my oversight…) open a small gift selected out of the stack by me to celebrate Amandamas. Amanda opened the movie Wallee. She was happy. Bailey opened camo gloves and houseshoes from Old Navy… he was less than thrilled but sweet. Emelia opened “my first cookbook by Paula Deen.” She is ready to start cooking asap. Matt opened a t that says “ho ho ho” from ON too. It was great fun. I heart Christmas.

There was a strange additon to my nativity scene.  I went back to look at the bloggy tour of homes picture to make sure it hadn’t been there all along… It had not.  Can you find the intruder?

Here’s Princess.  She is the sweetest dog ever.  We rescued her from the doggie shelter and she is oh so happy to be out of puppy prison.  She’s full grown (maybe 3-4 years old they said).  She is a corgi mix with possibly some chihuahua.  She’s calm and sweet and loves to snuggle.

    Aw, isn’t she sweet????

Oh my, that was a lot of information. So sorry about the car mishaps…all those things are bad enouht, even in good weather. Which we have NOT!!!

So proud of Amanda!!!! That is wonderful. I wish my Granddaughter would get motivated about school. She is very bright, but with all the trauma of her life she is not doing well in school, because she doesn’t really care. Pray for that, Annie.

We’ll be back in the City tomorrow & Friday. I posted about it on Hearts. Another matter for prayer.

Enjoy the rest of the Christmas season.

I love hearing the tales of your busy family. Sorry about the flat and dead battery, but someday you will laugh about those memories.

Congrats to Amanda and her school grades. She is indeed a special young lady (just like her Grandma said) and I appreciate the fact that she tries so hard to keep a high standard. Go, Amanda!!!

Hmmmmmm….. opening one gift already? I think that is a great idea! Way to go!

Have fun and enjoy every minute. IF the weather cooperates, we are driving to Memphis for Christmas.

      Love to all,
      MERRY CHRISTMAS
      Betty

    3. WOW! Congrats to Amanda!! Beauty and brains and a good heart. What a special young lady you have there.
And the puppy is very cute. Nice outfit ;)
I see the intruder of the Nativity. But maybe there was a puppy standing guard on that special night.
I’m glad all worked out OK with the flat and the dead battery. It’s always something isn’t it. I hope that’s the end of the car troubles for you.

Congrats to Amanda! Her accomplishments are awesome! Your new dog is SUPER cute!

    5. Stacy says:

Congratulations to Amanda, that is awesome! She should be very very very proud! :)
Bummer on all the car trouble though. At least it’s just cars that can be fixed and nothing too major!

Oh my goodness at the new canine member of the family, isn’t she just the cutest thing?! I’m a firm believer in rescue dogs. My furry child is from a shelter and lived a long time at a penal farm (yikes, it gives me shivers knowing he lived there a couple of months) and then a foster dog home. Coming here, he’s in doggie heaven, and he is so happy and grateful all of the time. I’m sure Princess will be the same way. She has been to the dark side and knows how good she has it now!

      Merry Christmas!

Congratulations! Our children give us so many pleasures to be thankful for!
Is that doggy the unusual guest in the manger? But he looks perfectly in place to me. Maybe to welcome the new puppy? She’s so cute!
