Saturday 9: Just Like a Pill

1. What was the last pill you took?

I took an alleve Tuesday night during church because I had a headache.

2. What time of day do you usually feel most energized?

Late morning…. like 10ish.

3. Who was the last person you hugged?

Amanda…. or Bailey… can’t remember which was last.

4. If you had a restaurant serve you a perfect breakfast, what would it be?

Quiche with artichoke hearts, a slice of ham with ketchup, hash browns, a belgium waffle with hot syrup and melted butter… and a coke with sonic ice.

5. What did you do on Thursday?

Drove to Tulsa (2 hour drive) to Matt’s mom’s house for Thanksgiving dinner.  Enjoyed a delicious meal, colored and cut Jane Ann’s hair (matt’s sister), looked at pictures, drove home, ate leftovers, went to bed. I need to remember to do a post about term life insurance quotes.

6. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

I would listen.

7. What is your favorite TV commercial at the moment?

That one that has the song, “I am green today….”

8. Who would you’d be surprised to wake up and find in your bed?

Anyone other than Matt…

HappyThanksgivingEve!  My day will be full and busy… more than usual.  I have all the ingredients to make a triple batch of spinach dip, and some casseroles to take to Tulsa tomorrow.  Bailey has a friend over (spent the night)… the kids are out of school until Monday.  I am planning to get a picture for Christmas cards today!  I got an email from Dayspring about Christmas photo cards you design yourself.  The email also had a coupon to  Save 25% on Your Order!

So… more good news about Iz.  She did standing with Camilla yesterday and did great. Camilla and Melanie commented that her head control has greatly improved since the Summer.  She was dangling her legs while sitting on a table and kicked her legs when asked by Melanie.  Doesn’t sound like much but with the high tone in her legs for her to be able to relax and kick each leg is a big deal.  We are just building towards the kid walk.  I can’t wait to see her in it.

My new cell phone came Monday! I was so excited.  I’ve been dealing with that stupid phone that I dropped in my drink for weeks and the buttons wouldn’t work so I couldn’t call a number unless it was stored and couldn’t text.  My new phone is WONDERFUL!  It has gps and a cool camera with a flash… and a full keyboard and a cool trackball and the buttons all work and it is great!Did you know you can buy cellphones on Amazon.com and use your upgrade (mine was ATT).  This phone was .01 cents!  That’s using my upgrade.  On the ATT website the upgrade for the same phone would be a LOT more!  I am going to be using Amazon for all my future upgrades, it’s a great deal!  Not a refurbished phone or anything either.  It came with all the cords and even a case. I need a memory upgrade.

I got some great ideas for new books to read.  Gail and Susanne both mentioned “Uncharted,” by Angela Hunt.  I ran by the library yesterday and got that one to have for the weekend.  I really hope to have some time to read it!  Camilla mentioned a book called “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.”  I am going to read that one next!

For Today…

Outside my window… it’s chilly and sunny!

I am thinking…Monday mornings are one of my favorite times of the week.  Time for catching up and having a little quiet time…

I am thankful for…Great improvements in Izzy’s feet today.  I am measuring each Monday as instructed by the orthotist.  I wasn’t sure about my last measurement because I thought maybe I wasn’t getting it right, but after our visit last Monday we were right on track with what Gary measured so I felt confident today to measure and to tell you that I think we have made huge gains in her feet.  I’m seeing 8 degrees at least just in this one week.  That is HUGE!!!  I know the difference has been her wearing them while sleeping.  I am so thankful that she has been able to do that now for several nights and she seems less and less annoyed when she wakes up and realizes they are on her feet.

From the kitchen…I bought a big pack of lean ground beef and you know you can’t just throw it in the freezer or you have a brick… so I need to fix it today or it will be bad, gb just doesn’t keep long at all!  I am going to cook it all and then make a big batch of chili.  I may freeze half for later when turkey is getting old.

 I am wearing…the t-shirt and pajama pants I slept in.

I am reading…nothing really… although considering re-reading the twilight series after seeing it Saturday. Any suggestions for a good read?

I am hoping…to get a lot done today!

I am creating…a picture of me and mom for a frame that has had the picture that came in it.  I put a picture of me and mom that I printed in black & white from the family reunion with my grandfather.  He is not doing well at all.  Please keep him in your prayers.

I am hearing…Nothing.  Silence is golden!

Around the house… I have a couple of loads of laundry to do, cooking to do, I need to dust and sweep…

One of my favorite things… leftover roast beef sandwiches.

A few plans for the rest of the week… Only two school days this week.  Tuesday we have an orthodontist appointment to find out what all needs to be done and how much it will cost… ugh!  Thursday is thanksgiving so Matt is off work.  Friday is black friday and we’ll probably get up really early and hit the stores.  I got an email from kohls with a sneak peek and there are some really good sales there.  I’m not usually up for early shopping trips but it might be worth it this year.

We celebrated Amanda’s boyfriend Lorenzo’s birthday today after church.  Amanda went to GREAT lengths to make it special.  She had mom (nini) help her make a special heart shaped layered chocolate cake with cherries on top and puffs of whipped cream… she wanted to make roast because it is one of his favorites and so we put it in Saturday night and let two good sized roasts cook all night with onion soup mix and golden mushroom soup and she got up way early Sunday morning to add a bunch of potatoes and carrots.   We had salad with yummy croutons and she dipped a bunch of strawberries in chocolate.  After church mom and dad came over to eat lunch and mom brought a cheesecake because she knew I wouldn’t eat the chocolate cake covered with cherries.  It was a delicious lunch and I think Lorenzo had a wonderful birthday party.  He seemed very happy.  After we all cleaned the kitchen it was nap time!  What a wonderful long nap!  I went back to church with sleepy eyes.

We had a bake sale at church this morning.  I took cookies.  I bought a bunch of peanut brittle for dad (and mom) because he loves it and Sue (lady at church) makes it really well.  There were lots of really good things!

I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow! A roast beef sandwich!

A menu?  not so much!

I may make a big batch of chili tomorrow… I’ll have fritos for frito chili pie.

Tuesday we’ll have hot dogs.  and chili.

Wednesday … maybe this chicken and black bean soup recipe I just found!

Thursday is turkey day! That’s a no brainer.

Friday will be turkey!

Saturday turkey.

Sunday probably turkey tettrazini or something like that.

 Bailey and I went to see Twilight Saturday evening!  It wasn’t quite as good as the book, but we both really enjoyed the movie!

3.   Getting to visit face to face and have a fun conversation with a bloggy buddy.  Kari is a really sweet person and I’m glad that the cool bloggy world has let me meet her!  I actually met her back in the Summer and she is losing weight at a crazy fast rate!  Shrinking before my eyes!  I had my camera in my purse but she somehow escaped without a pic…

5.   This one isn’t really related to today specifically… but have you seen/smelled the paula deen candles at Walmart??? I got a creme brulee candle the other day for under $5 and it smells so wonderful!

I had a freakishly busy day today … and tomorrow is full too!

Izzy slept in her AFO’s all night last night.  I put them on after she was asleep.  She had a great day at school.  Camilla told her to raise her head (she was on her stomach) when she said go and she would count.  Camilla counted all the way to 100 before Izzy laid her head down!  She was very proud of herself.  

It was so cold and really windy today.  When we were taking her out of school we opened the doors and izzy said, “wooooo.”  when the wind hit her.  It was funny!  

Matt asked me out on a date this weekend… to my favorite place even!  

I have plans to meet Kari tomorrow for lunch at Cheesecake Factory!

I took Izzy to the orthotist yesterday.  She gained five degrees in her feet.  That is right on our goal mark.  The orthotist said that we could hope for 2-3 degrees per week and after two weeks we have five!  She is still only tolerating the afo’s about three hours at a time, but it’s working so that’s good!

 I mentioned the doll Emelia and I worked on Sunday afternoon.  Here she is!  She was made from a $1.00 pair of gloves found at Walmart and her dress and bow are a mismatched baby sock we found.  We will probably stitch over the markings for her face.  Emelia wants to make more, now that we know how to do it they should be pretty easy.

Bailey has insisted on having long hair for a couple of years now.  His hair has some natural curl to it and it has gotten harder and harder to fix for school.  He was finally fed up yesterday and asked me to cut it all off.  I couldn’t have been happier as I sprinted for the scissors!  Now I’m off to get some horse supplies. I heart my horse Pinky!
