fave 5

Friday, September 19th, 2008

  1.  No bake cookies!  I made a double batch Wednesday. They are so easy and so good.  I think they are probably health food with all that oatmeal in them… and jenna also reminded me what a good source of protein the peanut butter is!

    * 1 3/4 cups white sugar
    * 1/2 cup milk
    * 1/2 cup butter
    * 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
    * 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
    * 3 cups oats (I use the old fashioned 5 minute oats)
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa. Bring to a boil, and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in peanut butter, oats, and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Let cool until hardened.
  2. Fall weather!  This may make the top five until winter shows up!
  3. Johnson’s baby bath and baby oil.  I love using my spongie thing to lather up with the baby bath and then put the oil on while I’m still wet in the shower.  Makes my skin feel and smell great!
  4. Yankee candles!  I’m burning fresh linen now which smells nice and clean… soon I’ll start burning all the great fall smelling candles!
  5. My keys!  I lost them so long ago I can’t even remember.  Maybe a year.  Had duplicates made of our house and my car… Last Friday I got an email from CVS headquarters saying they had found my keys and I needed to call and identify them.  I called the 800 no. and couldn’t remember what my keychain was at the time.  I stumbled around until I convinced them they were mine and then they told me they would be mailing them to me from Rhode Island!  They sent them from Choctaw to RI and now back to my mailbox yesterday.  The keychain was from Canada, a souvenier Amanda brought me that has my name on it as well as my blockbuster, cvs, and albertsons key fob things.  I am so glad they are back where they belong!  I just wonder where they’ve been hanging out for the last year!

guest blogging and stuff…

I started to post some of the friday memes and then just didn’t…  I guess today I think I’ve said quite enough about me and what I cook and how many purses I have and what I want to be when I grow up :)

Izzy is still coughing and congested this morning, but I’m hopeful that she is better and may make it to school this afternoon.  She missed Wednesday and Thursday.  Bailey also stayed home yesterday.  He did go today, but didn’t really think he should.  I hope he feels okay today.

Matt is off work today through Monday.  He’s deemed it mattfest!  I think mattfest consists of him sitting in his chair for four days.  I need to declare an anniefest sometime.  I guess he needs  some MBT shoes.

We had an interesting start to our day.  Amanda came running in to say her car was leaking bubbles.  Leaking bubbles?  Turns out she left in a hurry and tapped the gas meter with the front of her car.  Barely tapped she said.  I guess that’s why her windshield washer fluid container was busted and leaking.   It could have been worse so Matt got up long enough to check it out and tell her it was okay.  When I said, “how do you hit a gas meter?” he quickly said, “you’re one to talk, you ran over my dog.”  I didn’t voice my defense, but dogs move, gas meters don’t.  They are always there!  Oh well.

I’m the guest blogger over at CWO’s Internet Cafe today. Just click on the button to join me over there! Oh, and don’t forget to leave a comment with your thoughts.

Gram aka Paula aka Matt’s mom saw my previous post and had just received a hanna andersson catalog… so she ordered these two outfits!  Aren’t they adorable?

(the black and white one on the left)

(the middle one, but in pink)

Aren’t they cute?  Thanks Gram!

beads

Friday, September 19th, 2008

 Do you make your own jewelry?  If so, you know how hard it is to find quality beads at good prices.  The beads at local stores are usually too close to plastic and at the bead shops they can be so expensive.  One year I made a really pretty bracelet for my mom and MIL using beads in the color of birthstones for all the kids and grandkids.  They turned out great and were a great gift idea.

BeadsOfCambay.com is one of the leading online supplier of beads, semi-precious gemstone beads, precious gemstone beads, sterling silver beads, copper beads, brass beads, vermeil beads, briolette, freshwater pearls and much more, with rich colors, smooth edges and dramatic reflections – all of which jewelers and designers have come to rely upon. Not only does our inventory impact the latest market trends by providing the newest stones, colors and shapes, but we are the premiere distributor of hand-selected beads to both wholesalers and retailers worldwide. So, if you are looking for wholesale gemstone beads check the website out. So many people are into jewelry making these days and the beads can be so expensive, especially if they are really good beads or unique beads!

wordy wednesday

I haven’t been much of a blogger this week… there’ve been too many things going on and then not much at all if that makes sense?  I rarely read books lately, I feel like blogging is my me-time… but I started the Twilight book and when Bailey read it before I finished I decided to finish it and we have planned to see the movie together.  I started the second book and read it in a few days so now have been reading the third book, “eclipse.”  They are interesting books and I can see why there are so many people in to them… but I always feel guilty when I read books like that.  I tend to devour books that I’m interested in like someone hungry devours a good meal.  It makes me feel bad for not being that hungry when I read the bible.  It makes me feel like I’m not doing what I should be doing which probably means I’m not.  Do you ever feel that way?

Anyway, Izzy was really congested yesterday.   She went to school and had a good day but was very sneezy and snotty.  She came home and just kinda layed there.  She was tired and limp.  I could tell she really didn’t feel well at all.  She slept pretty well although I could hear her trying to breath all night.  It was loud. Today she seems a little better.  I’m hoping she feels like going to school… I don’t think she has a temp.  I’m having trouble finding fall clothes to buy for her.  I bought a few outfits from Kohls the other day that are just cotton and comfortable… but not that cute.  I like Gymboree for her and have seen a few things that are okay.  I think as she gets older it’s harder to find the right clothes.  Camilla likes her to wear cotton soft clothes, like leggings and t-shirts.  I know it makes it a lot easier to work with her when she dresses the right way and I really try to dress her that way especially on her pt days (I really do Camilla!)… I looked at kid gap online and at old navy but only saw one or two things that weren’t that cute.  Any suggestions?

I have so many things on my to do list today.  I want to clean out the bottom cabinets in the kitchen, weed the front flower beds, finish a load or two of laundry.  Pick up and wash kid’s bedding, write a post on acne… Get dinner going early since church is tonight… Get izzy to school, go to the store, possibly meet Melody for lunch…  I need to write a devo for the internet cafe that is due today.

I could go on and on, but I’m going to go work on that list.  Happy Wednesday!!!

postcards

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Don’t you think sending out postcards is a great thing to do. For example, for our FLO (for ladies only) nights at church they send out cute printed post cards with the information about the service a few days before to remind everyone about it. It is a great way to advertise or remind people about something. Postcard Printing is great and you can print almost anything you need to on them. At vistaprint.com there are tons of special offers and coupon codes. For postcards the special running right now is PC50 : 50 Free Oversized Postcards. So all you do is enter the code PC50 for fifty free over sized post cards.

You can either browse the designs on the website that are there for your use and just add your logo and information, or you can upload your own design to have printed on your postcards.  The logo for our FLO was the one I originally did for the stationary when we first started.  Now it is printed on everything!  I think I would have spent more time on the design had I known how much of it I would end up seeing!  Vistaprint.com also has a design team that can design something special if you aren’t sure how to do it.  So, if you are looking for cool post cards to mail out… check them out!
