week in review text

Week’s Weather  We had a dose of Fall this week… some rain, some cool mornings and warm afternoons.  It was a nice week!

Sunday Sermon  was about the tabernacle being unattractive on the outside, and smelling bad from the burning of meats, but the inside was beautiful… and about how church can draw a crowd just like a sports event, but it’s about more than a head count… it’s about ministering to needs.

Life lessons perseverance pays off!

Favorite Meal(s) frito chili pie!

Treasured Moment(s) family devo time in the evenings… reading scripture and discussing things with the kids.

Simple Pleasures cooler temperatures, hugs, and snuggling while sleeping.

Talked with a lot of people being certified as ministers in the AG. Some headed to Africa to be missionaries, some heading to Mexico, some in the area.

~My Favorite DVD Movie Is~

1. In Drama? Beaches and Fried Green Tomatoes

2. In Comedy?  Elf and Napoleon Dynamite

3. In Mystery/Suspense?  Master of Disquise

4. In Action/Adventure? Lonesome Dove

Now, I have to say that all these movies could change because I couldn’t think of any and asked matt what my favorites were and he told me these answers …

Saturday 9: Out to Lunch (or Dinner)

1. When you go to a restaurant, do you usually order the same thing? Yes.  Mostly… I try new things occasionally but if it’s a favorite restaurant, I like to order what I like.  You know?  For example, at Old Germany I always order chicken schnitzel with mushrooms in cream sauce breaded and panfried with german potato salad and red cabbage.  The only exception is the potato choice, but it usually stays the same…

2. What is your favorite fish dish?  I don’t like fish.  I sometimes eat shrimp.  Mostly at Pelicans.  My favorite there is shrimp scampi… and that’s what I always get when we eat there.  Always!

3. What is your favorite meat dish?  Probably glazed ham, or Roast with carrots & potatoes.

4. What is you favorite vegetable?  That’s tough.  I love fresh corn on the cob in the Summer.  Broccoli is always a favorite and artichoke hearts... but then again who can forget the potato?  Not me :)

5. How often to you eat out? A few times a week.

6. Do you usual order dessert? If yes, what?  Only at Cheesecake Factory.  Brownie Sundae Cheesecake! Yum!

7. Do you like a particular after dinner drink?  Nope!

8. How far would you drive to go to a favorite restaurant?  Not too far.

9. Do you like to dine with just one person or a group? Both are fun!

(wonder why this meme has made me hungry?)

labels

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Bailey got one of those label makers recently, he has been a labeling guy!  I have been finding labels everywhere.  I don’t know if I have mentioned this or not, but a few weeks ago Matt called to tell me that he accidentally ate the wrong lunch!  I pack his lunch most days because most days he is too busy to stop and eat somewhere, plus it’s more healthy… so anyway, usually on Fridays he eats out with his friends at a Chinese restaurant.  This particular Friday I sent a lunch just in case he got too busy to eat.  He didn’t eat that lunch, he went to eat with his friends.  I think it’s important to stop here and mention that it was over one hundred degrees that week.  The following Tuesday he called and said, “tell me you packed my lunch in a white sack today.”  I said, “No, that was the last white sack that I used Friday.  The new ones are brown.”  He said, “I just ate my lunch from Friday.  It was Tuesday!  I started then and there labeling his lunches to mark the date they were made.  Now my first thought is that he should know and just toss a lunch if it is old… but I realize his work is hectic and he can get busy and forget.  So, the first thing to be labeled is lunches! A Dymo labeler would be great for this use! There are so many other things that need to be labeled, for instance the kids drawers.  Emelia has a dresser and chest that we reorganized and we both keep forgetting what belongs in the drawers.  There are about 14 drawers. Another thing that would be great to use labels on is file folders. It looks much easier than just writing in what belongs in the folder.
