My first thought this morning… headache!  Ouch.  The weather is weird today, that may be the culprit… but seriously.  Ouch.  It’s humpday.  Again!  These weeks are zooming by. I know I say it every week, but time is in fast forward for me.  I just looked at the weather radar, at Matt’s prompting (he’s very into looking at the radar and/or 7day forecast)… and see that Gustav may be knocking on our door today.  The high is supposed to be 70 degrees, which is about 20 shy of what it has been and at 7:00 a.m. it still looks dark outside.

Bailey stayed home to nurse his poison ivy yesterday.  I think it’s much better, but he was still pretty miserable.  I snuck in a hair appointment which was greatly needed.  He’s been sporting some pretty long locks for some time now and I did a quick trim the other day but he wouldn’t let me “finish.”  He was afraid I was going to cut it too short.  So he looked kinda wonky.  I think he looks better and it is shorter than it’s been in at least a year.  So, no more comments about him looking like a girl… for now anyway.  He’s such a sweet guy.

The Labor Day weekend was uneventful.  We did have the cook out at Mom & Dad’s house Monday evening.  Matt stayed home and kept warm compresses on his neck.  He is scheduled to see the surgeon on September 9th.  I’m hoping & praying it dissapears before that date so we don’t have to go.  We have to go before the board or presbyters or something Saturday for final approval of his ministerial certification.  I think it’s kind of a big deal.  Hmmm…

Izzy had a fun day at school yesterday.  I’m telling you those people are great!  Melanie (v.t. and her teacher) brought several different dress up items for izzy to choose from.  Izzy was wearing a purple outfit so of course she chose the big clip on rhinestone aka plastic heart earrings.  She wore them until I picked her up and when the were taken off she didn’t take her eyes off of them as the other teachers took turns trying them on.

What’s going on in your world this Wednesday?

  1. Joyful Days Said,

Glad Izzy is having a great time at school. Poor Bailey–poison ivy, ow!! My Roo had a major haircut. It was traumatic, but now he is thrilled. And he got a lot of attention last night from so many people. Good thing he’s not too vain.

My husband is an amateur weather forecaster. He always watches the radar.

    Happy Wednesday!!

  2. Susan Said,

Hope you’re feeling better. It’s already raining here and the wind is pretty strong. Mickey mowed and fertilized yesterday and so was hoping the rain would come. We are going over to W*al*ly Wor*old to do our walking today, since we aren’t willing to walk in the rain :o) I’m praying that Matt’s neck will be better and the appointment can be cancelled.

  3. Stacy Said,

Hope the headache goes away. i’ve had one off and on for several days, I always attribute it to the weather and the changing barometric pressure :) We’re still getting the remnants of Gustav here, wow that he’s already up in OK! I bet the rain is welcomed though, and like you said, it keeps it cooler (although it keeps it much grayer all day, too, huh?!)

Hope your boys are feeling better too!

Have a good day and a great week - you’re right, they are flying by!

  8. Kari Said,

My crummy computer has been on the fritz again - but now I’ve got a new one so I’m working on catching up. Seems like that’s all I’ve done all summer is catch up!

Bailey’s hair must be like Jake’s. Jacob used to always want his hair buzz cut for years. Then he let it grow out one year (I was thrilled!) and discovered that he had curls. Not only that, but the girls LOVED the curls. lol Now it’s hard to get him to get a decent haircut at all. Randey’s convinced he’s a “hippie”. (Poor Randey - he also thinks most kids that he sees walking the neighborhood are up to “no good”. Geez.) Anyway, I’m sure Bailey’s hair is perfectly lovely - long or short (that’s what I keep telling myself about Jacob’s anyway. lol)

I know Matt won’t have any problem getting that final approval and I sincerely hope and pray that his neck problem clears up quickly and without surgery. I know that must be frightening. Like you don’t already have enough on your plates! Stay strong - it’ll all work out.

Tell Izzy I like the flashy stuff, too. LOL

    Annie -
I googled the term: “baby girl pettigrew” and your blog popped up, I have enjoyed reading it, and am from Oklahoma too. I ran the search because I am adopted and the only name on the Birth cert. before the formal adoption was baby firl pettigrew.
I was born in 1964, Mother possibly from new mexico, unwed mother’s home in Enid, adopted thru the State. Any chance any of this rings a bell wtih your husband?

I have had a PI on it for 8 years now, no luck, trying on my own again, all non-identifying info from the state could be bogus, I have a lot of it, but if it was made up what good is it, or i could share. If this sounds familiar in anyway, would you contact me back.?

I know this is odd, but I too am a devout Christian, Huntington United Methodist, Grandfather was a Methodist minister all over OK for 63 years, have lived in Norman, Edmond, OKC, Tulsa, Tahlequah, I just felt a connection and got a jolt of shivers when i saw you were from OKlahoma. If you want to pursue more, let me know.
I am happily married - 19 years - have 3 children, youth director at church… I just felt a connection, stranger things have happend, maybe I was suppose to find your blog today.

If not, I understand, but if so, I look forward to hearing from you. You are blessed to have your daughter alive, it brought tears to my eyes. Yes, God is Good.

Thanks for your time to read this. Jamie Burnett - burnettcrew@aol.com
