How long were your labors?
Amanda… 22 hours
Bailey… 8.5 hours
Emelia… 3 hours
Isabelle… 4 hours
How did you know you were in labor?
Amanda… Lots of pain. As in ouch!
Bailey… induced. more pain.
Emelia… induced.
Isabelle… induced.
Where did you deliver?
Amanda & Bailey at Presbyterian Hospital… Emelia & Izzy at Renaissance Center.
Drugs?
Amanda… Epidural, but way too late. It took effect right after she was out.
Bailey… no drugs. induced = lots of pain.
Emelia… epidural. Almost no pain.
Isabelle… epidural. Almost no pain!
C-section?
Nope! Izzy had the cord wrapped around her neck. Twice. But she was delivered and the cord was cut quickly.
Who delivered?
A doctor on call delivered Amanda. It was her second delivery. She freaked out at the end when the little monitor came off her head… so she grabbed for scissors and cut away. Then I tore. It was bad.
Dr. Brown delivered Bailey. It was a freak ice storm and there were no anesthesiologists available. He offered to sit in with the patient using the only one in the hospital long enough for an epidural to be administered but no go. So I got to deliver naturally. After being induced. It was bad.
Dr. Broady Symes delivered both Emelia and Isabelle. She did a great job, although Emelia came so fast the nurse almost delivered her. She basically kept her from being delivered.
I’ve seen this all over the blogosphere this week… thought I’d play too!

I had my oldest son in the labor room bed. Didn’t have time to get to delivery once he finally decided to come out. Had an epidural with my daughter (all three sons where born naturally – no pain relief at all with the last two, some demeral with the oldest). The midwife called me a jackass when I was in labor with my 3rd child. That’s when I found out she was a MIDWIFE and not a DOCTOR. (Military hospitals – they’re not all that great for child birth!). And I threw Randey’s watch to the floor as hard as I could when I was in labor with the 4th one because he couldn’t manage to time the contractions right. He’ll never let me live that little moment of violence down. lol
