at the beach…

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

We had so many funny times while at Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. It was more fun in one week than I remember having ever! I think one of the funniest things that happened when we were in Florida happened at the beach. We were trying to leave the beach and Emelia was reluctant to leave. Terri was playing with Emelia and they were the last to get back to the car. Terri insisted that they “shower” off to get rid of the sand. What they didn’t realize at first was the water in outdoor shower smelled like rotten eggs, or sulfur. It was bad! They got in the car and smelled terrible. Bailey and Amanda sat on either side of Emelia. They were both covered with sand and she was reeking from the bad water. It was a long two hour ride back to our villa. Bailey even begged to ride in the floor of the car to get away from Emelia. I laughed so hard all the way back I cried. It was the most humorous thing that happened on our trip. I don’t think we’ll ever forget it. I bought a magnet that is a foot full of sand that says Orlando to memorialize that memory.

I think it would be fun to participate in Orlando Tours! There is just so much to see in Orlando. I feel like we didn’t even touch the surface of stuff to do and see! Visit Trusted Tours and Attractions and sign up for the free newsletter! They have lots of online travel guides!

there’s no meme to do so …

I’m just going to write a bit of randomness. Well, there is tackle it tuesday. I do have some things I’ve tackled recently, but have not taken before or after pictures. I cleaned my closet last week. I cleaned out the snacks in the kitchen late last night… I don’t know about you, but when you buy all those big boxes of snacks it creates a lot of mess when the kids get one out and leave them there. I have three lined baskets on top of the fridge. The first one is kinda mine… the middle one is for Matt’s healthy cereal and the third one is for the kids snacks. I took things out of boxes and put them into the baskets. It looks much better!

I have last night’s episode of Jon & Kate plus 8 on now and they are doing swimming lessons. It’s making me nervous seeing so many kids in the water with not enough parental hands. It’s good that they are learning to swim though… it’s the best way to prevent a drowning.

Today is going to be full. I have no idea why I’m sitting here watching J&K and blogging when I have so much to get done! Izzy slept in this morning, so I have to get her fed now. Shower. It’s raining and raining outside so no need to straighten my hair. OH I have hair news! I got my hair done Friday and it is very very light! I need to post a picture, I can’t remember the last time I went this blond. I love it though!

Prayer is at ten. Not sure it’s going to happen this morning since a) izzy slept in and b) it’s pouring and c) i haven’t showered yet. I have made all the beds and swept… with the shark. One load of laundry to do.

Judi is working on my blog for me. It’ll be changing very soon! yay!

Izzy has school today. So, I’m going to get BUSY!

nutrition

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

How can you be sure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals you need? They say our soil is so depleted that none of us are getting enough nutrition in regular food. Orovo is a superfood and claims to provide complete nutrition. I have been giving Izzy juice plus for a few years and I know it has helped her immune system and overall health. It is a great supplement.

faces?

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

How’s your complexion? Do you have to use acne cream? I think my skin has been more sensitive in the last ten years than in all my adolescent years.  I know a lot of women who talk about getting acne or zits in their 30′s.  It just doesn’t seem quite fair to deal with breakouts at this age.  This should be the age of perfect grown up skin.  I guess it could be worse… and will be… when the wrinkles start coming!  ACK!

Things have been taking a healthy turn around here… Matt is eating healthier and I’m working my hiney off to make sure I make healthy meals for him… Not only to drop some weight, but to be healthier and live longer :) .

I bought marinated salmon to grill (melody had recommended some at Sam’s). I grilled it for him this weekend and he loved it. I won’t touch it! bleck.

This week we’ll grill a lot again. But I have a recipe or two to try.

Tonight I am going to grill chicken for me and the kids, and make Matt salmon. Some baked potatoes, roasted broccoli on the grill (I did it yesterday and it was delish. I just put the cut fresh broccoli in a pie plate (foil) and sprinkled a little EVOO and kosher salt. Covered with heavy duty foil and put it on the top rack). I’ll make a spinach salad too!

Tuesday I want to make this recipe for honey lime chicken enchiladas I saw over at Karen’s blog who saw it at Kim’s food blog. She said it was yummy and it sure looks good. This is not diet food. I will either make an alternative for matt, or try to make it lower cal by cutting the cream or replacing it… we’ll see. I’ll serve salad and veggies on the side.

Wednesday I’ll grill some lean burgers and serve them with baby spinach on top… pretzels on the side!

Thursday I’m making a batch of black beans to replenish the black bean burritos I’ve been making and freezing for Matt to have for lunch. We’ll have black beans over rice with fresh salsa for dinner.

Friday it’s back to the grill… more salmon for matt because it’s good for him (I wish I liked it) and either chicken or steak for the rest of us. Some roasted potatoes and salad.

1. You have a huge final project that is due in six weeks. When will you actually begin it? In other words, are you the sort of person who gets things done right away, or do you wait until the last minute? Why is this?

I pretty much wait until the last minute. There are usually so many things to do at the time that I have to make time to do something else!

2. How often do you clean your house? (Be honest!) Do you think you’re a good housekeeper? Does your significant other think you’re a good housekeeper? Does your significant other ever thank you for cleaning house? No one likes to clean, but what is the one thing you don’t mind cleaning?

Daily. I try to get all the beds made in the morning and do any laundry. I think I’m a good housekeeper, especially considering all the people running around making messes all day! Matt thinks I’m a great housekeeper… and gets a little tired of hearing, “put your clothes in the hamper,” or “take your plate to the sink.” He doesn’t really thank me, but he is thankful. I like to clean things out… like closets or drawers… I love to throw things away and organize. I hate to mop!

3. Fill in the blank: I can’t believe you _______________! Now tell us the story behind this sentence (WHY did you fill it in the way you did?)

said that! I am amazed at the things people assume and say. It astounds me that they think they know whats going on when they just don’t. AND it amazes me that they say such hurtful things and just put it out there. Use some discretion and compassion! HELLO!

4. Be honest, how many times do you hit the snooze button? What time do you get up during week days? What time do you typically get up on the weekends? Are you a good sleeper? If so, why? If not, why not?

None. The alarm clock is on matt’s side of the bed. He usually is up before it goes off at 5:00 a.m. I get up when I hear the shower in our bathroom turn on. It’s my alarm and it means I have to get busy! We usually get up about 8 on saturdays and 7 on sundays. I sleep like a rock from the time my head hits the pillow until the very last minute possible!

Manic Monday #130

Is there something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?

Traveling… I just can’t right now. Too many responsibilities at home etc.

If you could make any fictional character come to life, which one would it be?

Father Tim. (from the Mitford books)

If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?

Probably Sam’s (because they have just about everything)… or Amazon for the same reason … it would take me about a day. If that long. On second thought I would probably choose adaptivemall.com so I could get Izzy a stroller and the walkable. It would take me about 30 seconds to spend the money!

Name three things you wanted as a child but never got.

A sister. Although I have some friends that are a lot like sisters… I always feel like sisters take priority.  My SIL Terri has become a sister  … which is nice too!  She went with us to Disneyworld and was the perfect playmate for Bailey and Emelia.

That’s the only thing I can think of… I had lots of love from the best parents who taught me to be thankful for what I had and taught me to be gracious, and content.
