thursday thirteen ~ a list.

Thursday, July 24th, 2008
  1. I took Izzy to school/therapy yesterday.  She was very vocal.  The O.T. commented about how vocal she was getting.
  2. While Izzy was in therapy I ran to the local nail place and had this done:toes.jpg
  3. I realize my feet are not very pretty… but it’s always fun when the nail person is feeling creative.
  4. I left my watch at Julie’s.  I was going to look for it this morning.  I got a text that said, “don’t come this morning.”  Apparently one of the kids is sick today and she knows I’m a germ phobe and she is wiped out from a night without sleep.  Get well soon N!
  5. I went to a new little boutique (well new to me…) in our area yesterday and got some cute stuff.  I got Izzy this cute bracelet and some other fun little like a cute bracelet for me that Amanda is trying to claim!bracelet.jpg
  6. I should be working on a to-do list rather than a thirteen thursday list.  Sad but true.
  7. Emelia was supposed to stay the night with her friend Teresa last night, but texted me at 10:30 saying, “wanna come home.”  So I went and picked her up.  She did the same thing last time she went there which is unusual for her so I think overnight plans at Teresa’s house are going to be put on hold for several months.
  8. Izzy’s getting mostly clothes for her birthday.  Matt’s mom, aunt, and sista usually send gym gift cert. I add it with gymbucks and buy a bunch of clothes for school.  Her box should be arriving tomorrow.
  9. Izzy will turn six Saturday.
  10. Amanda will turn eighteen years old Monday.
  11. I can’t be that old.
  12. I guess I am.
  13. I turn “?” on Aug. 9.

stem cell research

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Have you researched stem cell research? I really haven’t much. I do know some people who have gone to other countries to try stem cells for their children who have had near drownings. I think we have a long way to go in this process. Here’s some information on the subject. Visit C’elle for more information.

While facing the difficult economy and the challenges of managing through tough times, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind –especially when a woman is in the prime of her life.

But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may potentially be found within her own body — in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.

Now, thanks to revolutionary stem cell research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, a woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.

C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way. Now for a special limited-time “Caring is Sharing” promotion, a woman can purchase C’elle for herself and give a meaningful gift of life to her best friend, sister or loved one for free. To purchase C’elle online go to www.Celle.com and use special promotion code: 241.

wordy wednesday

I have been having one of those weeks (so far) where I am not even sure what day it is… I have proof. Yesterday was Tuesday. I noticed that the trash was not picked up. I guess I thought it was Wednesday. I went as far as calling the City of Choctaw to make sure they came back around to pick up our trash. The girl who answered the phone said, “It’s Tuesday.” like, duh! Okay. I’m a goofball.

Monday was a whirlwind day. I had a wonderful lunch with Susan! Ran a few errands with Matt and then the four of us (matt, me, bailey, and emelia) went to see “Mama Mia.” It was so much fun! I laughed a lot watching the movie and totally didn’t know what to expect. I don’t go to movies in the theater much. If I’m really interested I’ll watch the dvd or see it when it finally hits the television. There are a few (usually musicals like Hairspray and Dreamgirls) that I go see. Matt takes the kids to see movies when they come out, I usually enjoy a quiet house for a few hours! I have to say that the main thing that struck me watching Mama Mia was the intense beauty of Greece. Oh my! The water was such a rich blue and the beauty of the place they filmed was breathtaking! I want to visit Greece now more than ever. The next thing that impressed me was Meryl Streep. She doesn’t look like she’s had much “work” done, but she looked beautiful. Age appropriately beautiful. She really was in good shape too, the running and climbing stairs made me feel tired just watching. Matt mostly enjoyed the painful look on Pierce Brosnan’s face as he “attempted” singing. I thought he was great too. I want to see it again. In the theater. If not for anything else than the beautiful scenery. Thank goodness I have a friend in Greece (Irene) :)

Yesterday after a little gentle nudging, I went over and spent a few hours with Julie. I put highlights in her hair, a few in her 10 year old son’s hair… and put some pink in her daughter’s hair! It was fun and it all turned out really good. Emelia ended up staying to play and swim so we saw each other again later (much later) when I went back to pick her up. That would be after an emergency visit to get dad’s tv to cooperate. He has DISH and has constant problems. Fortunately this one was a pretty easy fix. I like when I can solve a problem like that and make him happy. It was a two-for-1… I helped mom get her internet going (simple as restarting her router). Again, it’s nice to be needed and solve easy problems that can be so frustrating if you don’t know how to solve them.

I could tell you about an early birthday present I got. It’s FAB!!! (I don’t know why I said fab, I don’t think I’ve ever used that word before…) Here’s a little hint…

I have a huge to do list today that does not have blogging in it anywhere! With the last few days of fun and adventure I haven’t gotten much done. Hope your Wednesday is productive!

i met penless writer!!!

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

susan.JPG

I had lunch today with Susan (Penless Writer) and her sweet husband Mickey at the Cheesecake Factory!

I cannot say enough about how sweet these two are. Susan and I have been trying to meet for a while now and I was so happy to finally get to meet her. We live in the same state, but about two hours driving distance apart. She and Mickey were in town for some medical tests.

We talked for a long time. I felt like I had known them forever. Susan brought a book about Job that had impacted her life for me to read. I can’t wait to start reading it.

Susan is even better in person than she is on the blogosphere! She is a super special lady, a great woman of faith, and I’m glad she’s my friend.

Thanks Susan & Mickey!

This was part of the scavenger hunt.

We had to all be on a park swing.

This worked for us!
