excuse me.

Please excuse all the extra posts tonight.  I’m just trying to get caught up on assignments and the next few nights will be busy!  Tomorrow night is church and Thursday is the ladies banquet.   Matt is watching the primaries.  Can anyone say B-O-R-I-N-G!!!  Just tell me when it’s all over.

Our tacos tonight were yummy.  I made another batch of guacamole which made them!  Love guacamole!  Have you tried white chocolate almond ice cream?  It’s a new flavor at Braum’s.  My diet doesn’t really allow much ice cream but I tried a bite while I was scooping out some for Matt.  It’s pretty yummy.  Dena asked how I am losing weight while cooking all this stuff… well, I usually skip lunch.  I eat basically the same thing every day for breakfast (1 egg, 1 eggwhite scrambled with ww toast and grape jelly).  If I get hungry in the afternoon I may eat a small snack but I usually don’t.  For dinner I eat small servings.  Tonight I had two tacos.  I just put a tiny bit of meat in them.  The other main thing has been not eating candy or sweets.

Okay, I’m off to beg Matt to play American Idol (it’s tivo’d) and change from CNN!

tuesday…

Sorry. No time travel today.

I took Iz to the dr. yesterday.  Her pediatrician was surprised to see her.  She rarely gets sick.

She was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis.  She’s better already.

I had what I think may have been a gallbladder attack yesterday… pretty painful.  Today I feel dizzy and have a headache. Ick.  I did get several things checked off my todo list anyway… like cleaning out the fridge and mailing some documents for work.

I got this in an email and thought it was funny…

Only in America ……do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America ……do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America ……do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America…..do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the
driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America ……do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America…..do we use the word ‘politics’ to describe the process so well: ‘Poli’ in Latin meaning ‘many’ and ‘tics’ meaning ‘bloodsucking creatures’.

Only in America ……do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER …

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why women can’t put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don’t you ever see the headline ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?

Why is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for    lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

That’s all for now, I’m off to pick up Emelia from an honor choir party and then start making tacos for dinner… Happy Tuesday!

i can’t think of a title, but anyway…

Today (Sunday) was our first day teaching the jr. high kids at church. The first time in about four years that I have taught a class. It went pretty well. I have the girls, Matt has the boys. I have been going for church not class for years also. When asked to teach the class I hesitated, then debated with myself, then prayed about it, then waited. I just wasn’t sure. Isabelle and I have had our Sunday morning routine. Matt and the kids leave for bible school. We get ready and then come for church. It was a race every Sunday at that so why mess with it right? I felt like I got a clear “yes” about teaching and decided I would have to figure out a new routine to work for us. After I agreed I feel like a constant attack has been happening. Some pretty rough days honestly. Thursday was probably the worst day of the past week. But, I had my plan to get things together yesterday including everyone’s clothes for church and get up one hour earlier to get Izzy fed and ready. It worked. I put two pork tenderloins in the crock pot last night before going to bed. I poured a bottle of head country bbq sauce over them and turned it on low. I made potato salad last night while working on dinner and then made baked beans this morning while putting cinnamon rolls in for breakfast. I got all our clothes ironed and ready and this morning went pretty much like clock work. Pretty much. The lunch was wonderful. There is tons left which isn’t a bad thing. The potato salad was delish too! It was nice to have everything done. Matt finally finished getting the net up on the trampoline. There were many bolts and screw missing so I ended up making two trips to the lumber yard for replacements. You would think for $400 they would put all the parts in. It is up though so it’s all good. It is very sturdy and I know the kids will have years of fun on it. The netting on the last trampoline was never quite right so Matt was meticulous about getting it perfect. Tonight was a potluck at church. Cinco de mayo was the theme. I made a batch of guacamole. I love guacamole! That’s pretty much all I ate at the dinner, that and sopapilla casserole which was really good too. I need to find out who made it and get the recipe!

Tomorrow night (Monday) we’ll have leftover bbq because there is so much left!

Tuesday night we’ll have tacos.

Wednesday night burgers.

Thursday we’ll have chicken enchiladas.

and Friday Matt’s mom and aunt are coming so we’ll probably order pizza.

Saturday John is cooking for Mother’s Day… my favorite penne pasta with artichokes and stuff. Love it.

The diet is still going great. I think I’m down about 20 pounds now.

Well, I’m off to bed. I tried to take a short nap this afternoon after I finally finished Jan Karon’s new book (it was really good btw). It was enough nap to feel groggy and icky. So bed sounds really good to me right now.

(you can puruse menus over at org.junkie!)

I do plan to have time travel for Tuesday. So check back later!

fun maternity clothes…

Where were cute maternity clothes when I was having babies? Well, I have to say they did get cuter by the time I was pregnant with Isabelle. I think being pregnant is such a cute time anyway and why not make it more fun with fashionable, adorable clothes?  My favorite things were from Old Navy and MIMI maternity.  I guess my other favorite thing was wearing non maternity clothes while pregnant.  It worked being tall and not showing a lot.

traveling?

Do you travel a lot? Do you purchase travel insurance? Why do you need travel insurance? You can begin your trip without any travel insurance and be self insured. But did you know that if you become ill abroad the costs to treat you could be very high. How would you find a doctor? Where would you find appropriate healthcare facility? Where would you seek advice? Did you know that HMO’s, PPO’s and Medicare typically do not cover you abroad?

dieting…

There are a lot of ways to lose weight… you can try weight watchers, or jenny craig, nutrisystems, or diet pills. Maybe just cutting back on sugar or carbohydrates. I know I’ve been trying to cut back on white carbs like white bread, white rice, etc. Sugar is also something I am trying to cut back on because I believe it has been one of the main reasons I have gained weight and felt sluggish. However you choose to diet or lose weight just make sure you take it slow and steady and do it the healthy way!

software

If you are in search for budget software, check out PROFIX. Many finance professionals want to grasp the big picture of the company’s position by having the flexibility to evaluate and understand the effect of various factors. PROPHIX provides the ability to review previous years’ budgets, add/remove accounts or change budgeting assumptions with ease. Because of the lack of flexibility in spreadsheets, the depth of understanding and awareness are very limited. As opposed to spreadsheets, PROPHIX allows you to drill down to details to understand what is driving the numbers.

sweet dreams…

I have only slept on a memory foam mattress one time. It was in Ponca City when we were there for hyperbaric therapy for Isabelle. We ended up staying in Jane’s sister’s beautiful home and she had that kind of mattress. It was interesting. It really did take the shape of your body and if you toss and turn a lot it may not be for you. It seemed to take a little bit to adjust to movements. Overall I thought it was pretty comfortable though and wouldn’t mind having one of my own!
