bus drama (advice welcome) and twins?

Apr-30-2008 By mylifeasannie

So yesterday I took Izzy to school and I normally back my suburban into a spot close to the school. I have done that for the past three years… The bus was in the way so I just parked behind the bus to take Izzy in. This is the drop off spot for her class. Anyway, I took her in and then came out and noticed the second bus was behind me so I rushed to my car and got in to pull out as fast as possible for the bus. Before I could even get my car out of park the bus behind me whipped around the side of my car really freakishly close and pinned me in behind the first bus. I knew it was deliberate. It was very obvious. I decided not to get uptight about it and just relax and wait for the bus to unload. No big deal. After that bus left the first bus driver came running out of her bus and yelling, “don’t leave.” I thought she was going to gripe at me for parking there and I knew I was right to be parked there. Anyway, she came to my window and looked like she was about to cry and said that she saw what the bus did and knew it was deliberate. She said she was so upset that that bus had pinned me in and that I was supposed to be there to let my daughter go into school. She wrote down the bus supervisor’s number and the bus number that had pinned me in. She said she was planning to complain and wanted me to as well. I haven’t yet. I kinda decided to let it go… what do you think I should do? Complain or let it go?

So, onto another subject… today I went with Amanda to shop for some things for Lorenzo. Don’t you know it’s their six month anniversary of going out together? Apparently this is HUGE! Anyway, we were coming out of Walmart and the lady who stands at the door and says, “welcome to walmart.” was there and Amanda had on sandals that had heels and I had on flip flops that were flat, making us about the same height. So the lady said, “Are you girls identical twins?” We just smiled and I said, “no. Mother and daughter.” So she said, “Who is the mother and who is the daughter?” Again, I laughed a little and said, “I’m the mom.” Her jaw dropped. It was hilarious. HELLO! Anyway she went on and on about how she could not believe I was the mother and wanted to know what my secret was. I’m not sure Amanda enjoyed this encounter at all, it was a little awkward… but who doesn’t like to be told they look young? Is the lady senile? Probably. I don’t care. I’ll take it anyway.

Last but not least I finally found a trampoline today to replace ours that was destroyed in the ice storm. Our Sam’s club has been out of them and has 14 on order forever so while Matt, Emelia, and I were across town we zipped into the Sam’s there and they had two. Bailey was very excited! It’s square and has the enclosure with it. I hope we get it assembled tomorrow.

Amanda should be home anytime and then I’m headed to dreamland! Goodnight!

I’d probably want to complain, but just wouldn’t do it. What a nice compliment you received. I’m told all the time that I don’t look old enough to have a 22 year old son, which makes me happy since I still have a 3 year old.

    Be blessed my friend,

I don’t know what I’d do about the bus. That was really wrong though. Too funny about the twins!!! You look great, so that lady was NOT senile:)

  3. Sandra Said,

I think you should complain, that was just rude and really inconsiderate of the other bus driver. If you let it go, they will think that what they did is acceptable and continue to do that…..but I totally understand you not knowing whether you should or not. Considering that the other bus driver is also complaining maybe it’s ok that you don’t LOL

What a great compliment to receive about being twins, I would be thrilled :)

  4. yvonne Said,

That was wrong of the bus driver, and I think you are a wonderful person to not complain.

Now about the twins–that is too cute. Has never (and will never) happen to me. Reminds me of when one of the guys at my grandson’s high school saw him talking to his mom and asked if that was his girlfriend?!?

We had that exact same trampoline in Utah and LOVED it!! It’s awesome and so sturdy!

I don’t think I’d complain. I mean, yes, that was rude and annoying, but I wouldn’t want someone to lose their job over it, ya know? And we don’t know what kind of day that driver was having…

  6. Kim Said,

Wow, Annie. I don’t know about the bus thing. My gut reaction was, heck yes you should complain. That was just plain rude. The bus drivers around here have a real attitude which might be what is coloring my reaction a bit? Maybe if they did it again? If the other bus driver reports it, that might be enough. How nice of her to be so concerned for you! I had a run in with a security guard at my Saturday clinic back when I was so sick in March–I did call and complain, because he was rude and had such an unhelpful attitude. I got a call within a few days of my complaint and the guy’s supervisor assured me that he had received a little talking to and had been suspended without pay for one day. I would never want someone to lose their job unfairly, but if they aren’t doing their job then I am a big believer in consequences. Part of the work world is putting your bad day away when you get to work and do your job professionally.

How sweet about your twin thing! With my gray hair, I will never be mistaken as Sarah’s twin! ;) I must say though, that the little cart people at my Walmart definitely could be mistaken as senile! Very sweet, but very old.

Have fun with your new trampoline and oh, yeah, your bus graphic in this post is adorable!

I don’t know what to say about the bus thing either, wonder if it’s enough if the other person reports it? But if it happens again, definitely!
I’ll take it anyday if that happened to me at walmart! It used to happen more but not as much lately! My daughter is taller than me now, well one is still about my height.

  8. Kat Said,

I enjoyed reading your 50 Things post. Cute story about the clerk thinking you and Amanada were sisters. I can see that. It does feel good though when that happens. Someone said that about me and Bree the last time she was home. Gosh, it felt great, even though I know it’s not true. As far as the bus incident…hmmmm…how rude of that driver. I think I would complain - just so it won’t happen to someone else. Hope your weekend was good. How’s Izzy Bear?

    Hugs!

  9. Betty Said,

Sounds like that bus driver has a touch of Road Rage. They should be reported since they are responsible for the safety of children (and the parents in the parking lot) - with someone like that driving a bus, they could do some real damage or injure a child or parent. Bad attitude! Needs reporting!

  10. Nancy Face Said,

I know you don’t want to complain because you are kind and forgiving towards others, but I was thinking about the same way that Betty was. It worries me that the bus driver whipped around your vehicle so suddenly…what if a child had been there and was run over? School buses should never be used to punish people!

How fun about the twin thing! I can guarantee that would never happen to me, haha! :D

    Great trampoline! YAY! :)

That’s a tough one. I think I would just leave it alone, but if it happens again I probably would.

What a great compliment you received about the twins!!

  13. dena Said,

Well…I think you should make the supervisor aware of the action..I had someone come into the store representing a company and were very rude..I decided not to say anything but now have a very bitter taste in my mouth and wonder who else it has been done to.. That bus driver had no right to be rude…you shouldn’t feel uncomfortable at izzys school and you don’t want the bus driver that’s going to tell to be left hanging

Now on to the walmart lady…you DO look young but not 17! (Sorry) you and amanda do look A LOT alike! Take it as a compliment!
    Trampoline looks very cool

  14. karen Said,

What a rude Bus Driver, sounds like he’d had a bad day and was taking it out on anyone around. The other Bus Driver was a gem though. My prayer is that it doesn’t happen again, and by the sounds of it the Bus Driver #2 is going to follow it up. How cute about the twins comment, you can reassure Amanda that she is going to be ageless and look stunning still over the years :-). Great trampoline - we need to get one that is similar to that! Hope that the rest of your week is filled with blessings!

  15. oh amanda Said,

I probably wouldn’t complain–just b/c it’s my personality–but if the other lady wanted you to complain…you know, to prove she was right…I might do it. I don’t know. Yucky situation.

People ask me and my mom if we’re sisters all the time. I’m glad b/c that means they’ll do it to me and Lydia one day! :)

    Good Tuesday afternoon Annie,
I’d complain just so you can let go of it - and that the bus driver won’t do it again.
It’s a small thing, but it was rude. Who knows, maybe she/he was having a bad day - but then why be nasty to you ?

    Enjoy the new trampoline :)

    And it was VERY
