seiko!

I frequently have to buy Matt new watches. He is so hard on them! I used to always buy them from a store that offered an in-store warranty because they would inevitably break before the warranty expired. Now I just look for certain features that extend their life on his arm. Seiko Watches are particularly durable and look good at the same time. I look for something like the one above, it has to be waterproof to at least 50 m. It needs to have a stopwatch. The band also has to be very strong. What kind of Seiko watch would you pick out?

Has anyone tried the bertolli frozen pastas?

I have one cooking now because our shopping day ran late.

It’s chicken florentine. I think. I’ll let you know if it’s worth buying :)

So… I made the bertolli, along with frozen garlic bread and green beans.  Took maybe 5 minutes to put everything in oven/pans and about 10 for it to cook… Matt (who isn’t fond of pasta) LOVED the pasta.  I have to admit I didn’t tell him it was frozen!  OH well.  He doesn’t need to know all my homemaking tricks, right? I’d give it a thumbs up, especially if you need a home cooked tasting meal in a couple of minutes time! p.s. it said two servings in the bag.  It was $5.98, and would probably serve more than 2.

Dark Sky Festival

Mar-19-2008 By mylifeasannie

The 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival at Harmony is being planned! This year’s festival will be on Saturday, April 5, 2008 and will start at seven o’clock p.m. in Harmony’s Town Square. The Dark Sky Festival is intended to celebrate and promote the benefits of a night-sky free from the effects of too many lights shining! I remember when Matt moved to the city from living in the country. The thing he missed most was the bright stars shining in the night sky. It’s hard to get that effect with so many artificial lights. Visitors to the festival will enjoy the night skies through different telescopes while also enjoying music and food. There will be a lot of specialty booths. You can meet astronomers and other scientists, too! Kids can play in the Cosmic Kid Zone. Not only does this bring environmentally intelligent lighting and lifestyle practices to everyone’s attention, it also encourages the development of scientific interest in the youth of Florida. This is a week to deter light pollution by encouraging better overall outdoor lighting practices. National Dark Sky Week wants to promote the education about better lighting fixtures that help reduce light pollution by focusing the light downward rather than up into the sky. The Festival is free and open to the general public. The festivities will be kicked off at 7 pm by the Silver Clouds Community Orchestra followed by Motown sensation, RARE EARTH (“Get Ready”, “I Just Want To Celebrate”) who will perform a special concert as part of the celebration. For more information on the 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival at Harmony, please call the Harmony Institute at 407-891-8358.

more oysters!

Do you remember your first experience eating oysters? I don’t, I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten an oyster. I’m not much of a seafood girl… I mean I’ll take shrimp scampi anytime, but fish is too fishy. I understand oysters are not technically fish, but they are in the same category. At least in my little brain. I think living in middle America has also kept me from experiencing a lot of seafood because it’s not readily available. Gulf oysters are processed with new developing technologies that ensure safer alternatives to the traditional oysters that are at risk when eaten raw for at risk consumers. The processes they use allow the oyster to be eaten raw but with added safety feature that reduce the bad things that can make people sick. Be Oyster Aware!
