it’s thursday!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Brrrrr… it’s cold outside!  Me & Izzy are snuggled in today.  We decided to just stay in all day.  Isabelle decided to wake up about 1 a.m.  She wasn’t unhappy, just awake.  I brought her in the den about 2 a.m. because Matt has a power review which will equal a late night working tonight so I wanted him to sleep… We were up until a little after 4!  We were able to sleep until about 7 before starting the day so it’s a sleepy day!

My friend Melody came for her hair do day!  I was amazed at how quickly we got it done and how good it looked.  I know it sounds funny but I’m always amazed when she leaves and her hair looks so good!  I should have taken a picture, but I wasn’t thinking!  I had a lean cuisine and a salad for lunch… nothing exciting there!

Later my brother mike showed up for a haircut and I highlighted his hair too.  He has been wanting a trim for a few days but has had that flu going around so he knew better than to come by my “no germ zone” house! :)   He is better now, but a little down.  Things aren’t going great for him right now.  He’s been sick, his family has been sick.  His FIL has just had a second run with cancer and is back in the hospital with low sats.  While the FIL was in icu unresponsive, the MIL fell and fractured her hip.  It is just a lot at once and he is tired.

I wanted to clean out my closet today. .. like a brutal get rid of everything radical cleaning!  It’s full of stuff I just don’t wear.  It’s hard to get rid of things because I’m like a kid cleaning out their toys… I see things I have forgotten and think I’ll wear them… I don’t.  SO, maybe with Matt working late I’ll get it worked on huh?  I ordered some new things so that is always inspiration to me to get rid of the old.  I got two pairs of jeans that are ultra tall.  They are long enough to wear with these shoes!

I also ordered a new coat.  The lining in mine is getting messed up and I have had it forever! so I got a tall one on sale since the winter season is coming to an end… and some new shirts and some hoodies from Hollister for casual days…

It’s slow cooker Thursday, I’m sorry Sandra… I just don’t have anything new to post today!  I’ll work on something for next week. . .  It is also thankful Thursday and i am thankful to be home and out of the cold!  and it’s 13 thursday too… there are so many lists of 13 i could do right now but I won’t bore you ;)

happy thursday ya’ll.

humpday

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

F L O went great last night! I would say it was a success. We had a yummy meal (chicken enchiladas and all the extras) courtesy of Ronna and Marsha’s cooking skills! They did a great job. Pat gave a message about the curse of women. It was very interesting and funny too. I did the announcements and didn’t pass out or anything :) I was pretty nervous, I’m not sure if it showed or not. Everyone loved the magnets I made so all in all it was good. I took Emelia’s friend from school’s mother. I think she enjoyed it and it was nice to get to know her a little better. It was just another confirmation that we are in the right place. I love those ladies, they are a blast!

I also got to catch up with Julie on the phone this morning. She has seven kiddos and they have been passing a bug around for a while. She is sick of being sick. If you have a minute, say a little prayer for her!

I got a wonderful surprise in the mail! My dear Greek friend, Irene, mailed me a magazine, some gum and sesame sticks. Thank you Irene! I love it all!

What else… what else… OH! I’ve been giving Izzy Ambien since Saturday. I don’t know if you have heard, but they use it on brain injured patients and it helps with alertness? It is interesting! Anyway, we’re going to keep trying it for a while to see what happens. She is healthy & happy… still enjoying school. She worked hard with Camilla yesterday. She stays late on Tuesdays to work with Camilla (pt) and I walked in to find her on the floor with three therapists! She doesn’t lack attention, that’s for sure! She’s a little irritable with the ambien right now, but she still has been doing well at school.

I’m supposed to have lunch with Miki today. She is the youth pastor at our church. We have been doing lunch on Tuesdays most weeks but bumped it to Wednesday. I’m not sure where we are going yet…

Guess what’s coming to OKC in March???

I’m so excited! We are going the fifteenth. We have two season tickets to the theatre, but we’re trying to get extras so all the girls can go too! Also Gypsy is coming after that (and High School musical)! So much fun! Can’t wait!

Tomorrow Melody is coming over to get her highlights/trim! I haven’t seen her in a few weeks so it will be fun to visit.

That’s all I can come up with today. Hope your Wednesday is a fun one!

time travel tuesday ~ babysitting experience

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Travel back to your first few babysitting jobs, were you a teenager?

Were there any interesting, scary, or neat experiences you remember?

I think I started babysitting before I was actually a ‘teenager,’ I think the first victim was a baby across the street. She was a newborn and her parents decided to go out on a date. I stayed at her house and she started coughing worse and worse. I ended up bringing her to my house and having mom help with her. Apparently she had pneumonia! Scary!

But even more memorable than that was my many babysitting experiences for a lady at church who was a Mary Kay director… complete with the pink Cadillac! She would either bring me along to parties and stick me in a room with 8-10 screaming kids, or leave me at her house to care for her two children. I kid you not, the only food in her home was unsalted butter and cream of celery soup… I made it work :)

The other fun part about that was that no matter how many hours of torture fun I had with however many kids I always ended up getting paid in makeup, usually mary kay lipgloss. I am not sure why I kept going back, I guess I didn’t like to say no or something?

This is going to be a good week. We are having our first flo (for ladies only) service at church Tuesday night. I think it will be really a good thing…

Bailey has been under the weather, but seems better tonight. I think he’ll make it to school tomorrow. It’s been a nice quiet weekend. A lot of running on Saturday, but still a lot of time spent at home. Matt finally got his xm radio all situated after sending me to best buy a few times for different accessories. He likes it a lot already. I personally don’t get it… but it’s okay.

this week

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I remembered Wednesday morning to start assembling all the things for Izzy’s Valentine’s Day party. Here I am assembling like a mad woman!

I also decided to make these scripture magnets for the ladies group Tuesday night.

They are cuter in person (promise)!

Got a new purse…

Happy Valentine’s day to me… from me.

Me & Bailey stopped off at Sonic on Valentine’s Day. He wanted mozzarella sticks and french fries with ranch dressing! He came home from school yesterday with a temp of 101.6. He seems to be feeling a little better today.

Here are all the valentines packed up ready to go to school.

Last night I took Emelia to a birthday party at “Pump it Up”… it’s a place with huge rooms full of inflatable play things. They spend 45 minutes in each room and finished with cake and coke at 9:30 p.m. It was so noisy, but the kids all seemed to really enjoy it. Emelia wants to have her party there this year, I suggested a tea party at the new tea room? (I’m thinking quiet). Today she has a basketball game at 2 p.m. and a kid’s night out at church starting at 6 p.m.

We are having weather issues. There is freezing rain and it’s supposed to snow later on.

nintendo

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Who doesn’t remember hours and hours of playing Nintendo? Dad and I used to play Mario deep into the night, every night! It was a lot of fun! Two lifelong friends who were already successful in business had a vision to bring back the classic consoles they played when they were young to make them popular again. NintendosForSale.com officially launched in January 2007.

Do you remember playing nintendo nes? I do! You can get Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 or Nintendo nes! You can get all the old games you loved playing like Super Mario too. They are used but have been cleaned and tested and work great. They have outstanding customer service and a huge selection of games and consoles. You also get 14 days to exchange your system. Check it out!

hotels in barcelona

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Are you going to visit the beautiful Barcelona? Barcelona is positioned on the north eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula and the shores of the Mediterranean. Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain in both size and in population. It is the capital of Catalonia. After a makeover lasting more than two decades, Barcelona has transformed itself into one of the most dynamic and stylish cities in the world. Summer is serious party time, but year-round the city sizzles – it’s always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times. The buildings, especially the work of the eccentric genius Gaudí, will blow you away. The art, with significant collections by Picasso and Miró, will make you clammy all over. the people, with their exuberance, their creative spirit, their persistent egalitarianism, will fascinate you. A growing amount of visitors made Barcelona hotels to have an average year-round occupancy of 85% – the highest in Europe as a consequence rates have shot up recently. There are three names given to Hotels in Barcelona accommodation in Barcelona they are Hotel, Hostal and Pension. A hostal is similar to a guest house or hotel, but a hostel is a youth hostel. Pensiones, usually cheaper and often family-run, are star-rate. You might want to visit Gran Teatre del Liceu or Casa Batllo. I would love to see Montjuic Park and Castle and the Santa Maria del Pi. I would love to stay in the Spanish hotels that are near these locations.

know & tell friday

Question 1
Did you eat candy this Valentine’s Day? I munched on a few m&m’s that we used to decorate the heart shaped brownies. I guess that’s about it…

Question 2
What is something you do to relax? Just sit and read things on the computer, read blogs or email… just zone out.
Question 3
(From Poole’s book) What is the best approach for resolving conflict? I don’t enjoy conflict. I usually begin by praying about it, and then try to either stay away from the conflict or listen to God about how to handle it.
Question 4
(Poole’s book again) How would you define “freedom”? (this could probably be a bonus question) That is a hard question! YES! It should be a bonus :) There are so many types of freedom… but I think as an American I am very free! Spiritually speaking, freedom is the knowledge that I am forgiven and the freedom that gives me from worry… knowing God is in control.

Question 5
(Poole’s book) On a scale of 1-10, how happy do you usually feel? Explain. I am usually a 7-8. I don’t dip too low often or go to a 10 often either… I am pretty even!
Bonus Questions
Question 6
If you could choose one “SIN” that you would never have to struggle with for the rest of your life what would it be? Control. I fall into the “I want to control everything…” pattern often and it is a great opposition to letting God control my life. I know many wouldn’t categorize control as a sin, but not fully submitting to God’s plan and faithfully trusting that plan is (IMO).
Question 7
What is one thing that breaks your heart? Remembering details of Izzy’s accident breaks my heart. I really try not to do that!
