february. already?

Jan-31-2008 By mylifeasannie

Is it just me or is time going really super fast?  Not just time as in weeks, but even years!  Bailey turns 14 in a week!  14!  He’s still my sweet little guy.  I don’t know if it is the fast pace of life, or if it is true what “they” say about as you get older time goes by quicker… I wonder sometimes if I don’t impose a fast paced busy lifestyle on myself?  I keep moving, keep something going constantly.  I am one of those people who can seriously do many things at one time.  Like last night for example, I was walking on the treadmill (3.5 mph), reading the new Jan Karon book, listening to my ipod, running the remote for Izzy’s program (fast forwarding etc.) and answering the occasional phone call.  Should I just walk and nothing else?  Why does it seem like we (translated I) need so many distractions and how can I expect to hear God speak in my life at this pace?  Okay, that’s about enough introspective discussion… my head is beginning to hurt.  I guess my point is I need to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

I didn’t get a chance to blog today, I peeked at a few blogs on bloglines in between things… Izzy went to school.  I drove into ‘town’ to run some errands.  I went to kohls to exchange some jeans I bought.  They were too small.  Yep, too small!  Even with 9 pounds lost they wouldn’t button.  Then I had the decision, keep them and be excited when they fit as a dieting incentive, or return them and wear them.  I chose the latter.  Mainly because even when I lose a lot of weight I can still pretty much keep the same wardrobe.  Pretty much.  I’m so tall that it takes a lot of weight (up or down) to make a size difference.  My jeans are now beginning to fit a little looser.  I haven’t tried the new jeans on again yet, but I am hoping they fit…  They had a great sale on shoes, I picked up a cute pair for Emelia.  I also got some houseshoes for myself and got home with them and realized I had a small and a large.  They were attached with the tag!  So frustrating.  If they were just too little I could give them to Emelia, but one of each size? I will have to return them.  I ran into Target (love Target!) and got some containers to reorganize Izzy’s toys and books because I am rearranging the den to accommodate the treadmill.   I wet through the drive-thru of the new Panda express and got some broccoli and chicken.  It was GOOD!  I will be back, but one word of advice!  Don’t try eating chinese food while driving.  I had to head back home to pick up Isabelle so I couldn’t stop and it wasn’t an easy task to eat and drive!

The gift I ordered for Matt’s Valentine came today.  The complete Lonesome Dove set of movies.  This was our romantic exchange,

“Hey Matt, do you want your valentine now?”

He replied, “What am I getting you?”

I said,  “I have a few things in mind.”

to which he replied, “so we’re all good?”

I said, “Yep!”

And I handed him the movies.  He loved them… Aren’t we romantic?

Speaking of romance, I’ve just been told it’s bedtime… so, goodnight!

  1. Kat Said,

  3. Sheryl Said,

You and Matt are cute! Time really does seem to be going by more quickly…I really can’t believe we’re already almost in Feb!

BTW…you are definitely more coordinated than I…if I tried doing all those things while treading…I’d fall off and break my neck!

Have a great one, Annie :)

  4. Nancy Face Said,

I’m not coordinated like you are…like Sheryl, I’d fall off the treadmill and break my neck if I tried to do all that stuff at once! Today at Walgreen’s drug store I ran the shopping cart over the side of my flip-flop clad foot and got a hurty…takes talent.

I’m excited for Bailey to turn 14 next week! Lauren will be 20 next Wednesday, and I’m excited for her to be a “real” adult, not a teenager! Pssst…she and the boyfriend spent 11 hours together today! :)

Having to return stuff is not so happy. Eating Panda is VERY happy…I want some! :)

  5. Loving Annie Said,

Good Thursday morning to you Annie ! Sometimes when you are a devoted mother and wife, you do tend to be so busy… Smelling the roses is lovely - but when is there time when there is so much to do for your family ?
The organizers for toys and things at Target are great.
You’ll be in a smaller jeans size soon !
Bailey turns 14 in a week. Times goes so fast…
Left you and Izzy special blessings today :)

  8. yvonne Said,

That’s what I call multi-tasking–and you MUST BE so talented to be able to read and listen to an iPod at the same time. I have to concentrate when I read.

    You are one busy lady.

  9. Gail Said,

I think sometimes we do impose a fast paced life on ourselves! And part of that might be the pull of the world…..having kids is part of it too I’m sure!
And I do think time passes so fast and does seem to go faster the older we get. I’m about past having kids around and it’s still moving at lightning speed. It IS good to stop and take time to enjoy it all! You won’t be sorry later on!

  10. Julie Said,

Do you still like the treadmill? I still like the empty spot in my living room, that’s for sure! Life is good here.
I find it hard to believe Bailey will be 14 so soon. It seems like just yesterday he and Alex were fat little babies getting into everything.
Time does fly when you get “older” IMO.
    okay, that’s all for now.
    love u

  13. karen Said,

Wow, your son is turning 14. Where do the years go? My son will be 7 on Feb 21st and even I’m thinking - wow, where did that go? You really are a great multi tasker!! It’s funny because in the past year God has been telling me to slow down, do one thing at a time…and it’s been a process but now that I’m in my 40’s I’m not as energetic as I was even 5 years ago and it was getting too much, so a whole new learning curve for me. That said when I’m on the treadmill, I like to know the dishwasher is on, the washing machine is on, and maybe something is cooking in the oven. How is Izzy doing? I was praying for her this morning as I was on my walk.

  14. Kahri Lynn Said,

Great job on the 9 lbs lost! WOOHOO!!! I have lost 6 and I am excited too! I have the same tall “problem” as you, though. It doesn’t translate into clothes sizes quite as quickly as shorter people.

I, too, am a massize multi tasker. I just read a blog post yesterday about slowing down. I need to at least schedule in some quiet time each day. Even when I have my morning devotionals and bible reading, it seems like I am trying to hurry it done before anyone wakes up. I am going to start working on slowing down. (as soon as I get about 100 more things done!) LOL!!
