I am making great progress in my shopping! I have several gifts still to find and buy, but I feel a lot better about it than I did a week ago! No shopping today. Emelia has basketball practice tonight and we have to do Izzy’s therapy… but there’s always tomorrow :o)! How’s your shopping going?

Snowmobile Vacations

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

How much fun does a Snowmobile tour sound? I think it sounds like a perfect holiday plan!! I’ve never actually been snowmobiling, but it still sounds perfect. The snowmobiling capital of Lanaudière has received 18 inches of snow and counting this week alone!

Press Release:

Lanaudière, Snowmobile Country,
announces the opening of 350 km of trails

For more than 30 years, Lanaudière has been a snowmobiling capital!

Rawdon, November 30, 2007 – Mother Nature has been busy during the past week, covering the Lanaudière landscape with an average of 45 cm (18 inches) of snow and more in the northern part of the region. Snowmobile enthusiasts can now start their engines for a new season with 350 kilometres (161 miles) of trails open in northern Lanaudière.

These are the areas that are currently accessible, where conditions are good with new snow coverage:

• Mont-Tremblant National Park (start at Pimbina entrance)
• Certain areas in Saint-Zénon
• Certain areas in Saint-Michel-des-Saints

For precise and accurate information, contact the snowmobile clubs concerned directly (Club Saint-Donat at 819 424-7988; Club snowmobile du royaume at 450 884-5762).

To find out about trail conditions (updated regularly), weather, touring suggestions or order your free copy of our new snowmobile trail map, just visit or call 1 800 363-2788.

Please note that lakes are not yet frozen over.

Tourisme Lanaudière reminds you of the importance of driving safely and respectfully. Permission to pass through private property is difficult to conserve and represents a privilege to users. Respect for property and words of thanks to owners are gestures that are greatly appreciated, and it is equally important to respect signs and trail markers.

time travel tuesday ~ bad hair day???

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

We’ve all had them… the worst haircut or hair mistake ever! It didn’t just go away either… Travel back to that tragic day that your hair went wrong. What happened? How did you deal with the problem… did it take a long time to work it out or grow it out?

The first thought that came to mind when I was remembering bad hair was the Summer of 1984. I went with my mother to my aunts house out of town. Her daughter was taking care of a church member’s pool (my uncle was and is a church of Christ preacher)… I don’t think she managed the chemicals properly because one day (really one hour) in that pool and my hair was florescent lime green. It was terrible!
We tried a few home remedies that didn’t help at all. The front was still blond, and the back remained really bright green. I wore it frenchbraided that night for a movie outing. My braid looked yellow and green striped.
It was terrible!

The next day my SIL (who had taken cosmetology in h.s.) had the genius idea to pull hair bleach through all my hair. Gobs of green bleach came out of my hair.
It was terrible.

I was left with very very light, very very brittle, very very damaged hair. It took almost a year to recover back to normal. I cut it into a short bob to get the worst off and this all happened the weekend before I started my first year in High School.
It was terrible!

One thing I can say I know while traveling back to this situation in my mind is that it was all fine and my hair grew back… I also thought about my friend Melody. She got butchered years ago at the beauty shop and left crying with the shortest hair she’s ever had. I don’t know how long it took to live through that one… AND then the time I ruined Matt’s hair. We were newlyweds and I didn’t know to put the guard on the clippers, so I went straight over his ears and shaved his sides bald. He had really thick, black hair. We had to cut it 1/4 in. all over and blend the bald sides. It was pretty bad. The worst part is I couldn’t stop laughing. He didn’t appreciate that much. I think I laugh sometimes when I maybe should cry :o)!

Can’t wait to read about your hair follies.

Sweeney Todd

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

The first thing that comes to mind when you mention Sweeney Todd is a movie which I cannot remember the name… but the little girl did a part of Sweeney Todd for her school talent show. It was a cute movie. Tim Burton is releasing Sweeney Todd this Christmas in theaters, it is starring Johnny Depp!

SYNOPSIS: Johnny Depp and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller “Sweeney Todd.” Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again.” Joining Depp is Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney’s amorous accomplice, who creates diabolical meat pies. The cast also includes Alan Rickman, who portrays the evil Judge Turpin, who sends Sweeney to prison and Timothy Spall as the Judge’s wicked associate Beadle Bamford and Sacha Baron Cohen is a rival barber, the flamboyant Signor Adolfo Pirelli.

CAST: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall and Sacha Baron Cohen

There is also a Sweeney Todd confessional site where you can reveal your deepest shame on Sweeney Todd’s guilt free line.

I am trying to think of something to confess… some revenge I have taken upon someone… I have to admit I stuck a pencil into a boy’s hand in 4th grade on the school bus. This kid would not leave me alone. Everyday he pulled my hair and picked on me. I really didn’t mean to stab him with the pencil, but it just worked out that way, rumor has it that he is still carrying around that pencil led in his hand. Do you have anything to confess?

I got the most fun goodmail this weekend from Haley!
It was a “believe” pin. I immediately put it on my sleeveless coat (I continue to call it that even though and probably because it drives Matt crazy!) LOL.
She also sent me a really cute ready to go photo album, a super cute card, and a ME magnet!

Thank you so much Haley. I loved it all…

Also thanks to Betty and Ed, you guys are the best!

do you need new furniture?

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I really like the look of this night stand. I am thinking new night stands would be a good addition to our bedroom. What do you think of this one?

They are known for the use of the best quality materials in the production of their iron beds, brass beds, wood beds and other metal beds. Fashion Bed Group beds have a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty.

I also like this pub type bar stool and table set. I have a table and two chairs in our kitchen that we use occasionally. When the kids have a guest they like to eat in there at their own table but I think a taller table might look cute in there too. It would also create a fun atmosphere for the kids to eat in. You know when you eat at say Chilis, the tall tables are just fun to sit in.
