digital cameras

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I love taking pictures with my digital camera. It is wonderful to take the pictures and then instantly load them up and watch them displayed on a slideshow on the computer!  I remember the old days when we had to either send off our pictures from the photo center at Target or mail them to a mail order developer.  It was exciting to get them back, but there were so many wasted shots.  With digital pictures you can just delete and move on.  Another great feature of digital photography is with the memory cards available you have the capability of taking hundreds of pictures.  On our recent trip to Disneyworld, I took over 700 pictures without any thought of film or running out of space.  It really was a wonderful thing to have.  I hope to someday get a more advanced digital camera, but for now I am very content with the one that I have.  I use a Kodak easy share camera. I think it takes great pictures and it is very easy to use.  The only trouble I have with the camera at this point is keeping it from Amanda.  Hers is currently lost so she takes mine!  I guess it’s okay though, because I get to take a peek at what is happening in her life when she is away from home! I love digital cameras!

time travel tuesday ~ thanksgiving edition

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Welcome back to Time Travel Tuesday!
Sorry I’ve been so “absent” lately.
Hopefully my blogging will resume soon!

Today we are traveling back to Thanksgiving Day!
It shouldn’t be a difficult trip given it was only a few days ago.
What was your favorite part of the day?
What was the best thing you ate for dinner?
What are you most thankful for this year?

(If mr. linky doesn’t come up… for some reason it doesn’t on this computer? Leave a comment and let us know you are participating so we can come read about your day.)

Pettigrew Thanksgiving 2007

Our day started pretty early. We had plans to drive to Tulsa, OK which is about a 2 hour drive. Matt’s mother lives in Tulsa as does his aunt Jane Ellen. Matt’s sister Jane Ann was driving up from Dallas, TX. Jane Ellen’s hubby Ron spent the evening before smoking a big turkey lovingly referred to as “tom.” I made green bean casserole, rolls, and spinach dip to take along.
We all loaded up by eleven, dinner was planned for two.
It was a delicious dinner. I always enjoy Paula’s dressing and although she did email the recipe, it somehow wasn’t the same here at home.
Tom was nice and tasty too, I love turkey.
We had all the usual casseroles and lots of yummy desserts.
I think the best thing I ate was the spinach dip, I love that stuff. Second would be dressing.
We stayed long enough to a. digest our food, and b. for me to color and cut Jane Ann’s hair.
Jane Ann’s transformation was a miracle to behold. She looked great!
I (being un-trained) never know what the hair will end up looking like, especially when asked to do a cerain style, but it looked really good. I colored it a light brown with highlights and then cut layers around her face and trimmed it all over.
After her hair was finished we headed home.
Emelia stayed in Tulsa until Saturday.
We came home and ate dinner late before heading to bed.
It was a good day.
I am most thankful this year for the blood of Christ, that covers me with forgiveness… healing… and love. I am also thankful for my wonderful family and friends. I love you all.

digital frameZ

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I recieved a digital photo frame last year for Christmas.  They are really a fun gift to receive or to give!

Since digital cameras and camera phones have became a normal part of our lives, we no longer think about the cost of processing film.
Furthermore, with an incredible number of electronic items now integrating digital cameras, the scope for your involvement in the digital future can be truly incredible.

Previously the only way you could view your photo’s is by printing them all off and storing in an album possibly looked at every few years, otherwise, you may bring out your PC and huddle family and friends around it while you open hundreds of files.

It’s Monday …. some memes & stuff.

To Know Him” has started a new meme.  It is know and tell Friday!  It’s Monday, but I’m going to participate anyway!

What makes you crazy?
A messy house &/or car!!!
It drives me mad to be in chaos!

Best brand of jeans?
I dunno!  I’m so very tall that sometimes I just buy them in the men’s department so I  can find 36 or 38 in. length.  I like levis, but don’t have a favorite right now.  I’m thinking about trying a new brand!

What do you do on rainy days?
Carry an umbrella and put my hair in a ponytail! :o )!
Not much else, wish for a nap… love naps on rainy days.  It doesn’t happen often enough!

Remember to come back tomorrow to travel all the way back to your Thanksgiving memories!  I’ll have to put on my thinking cap.  (I sound like my mom saying that :o ).

laptops

Monday, November 26th, 2007

It’s no big surprise I am interested in a new laptop.  This website offers price comparisons on laptops.

Savebuckets is a free to use online comparison shopping service, which will help you to find the product you want at the price you want – saving you time and money. They have thousands of products from a wide range of shops, some that will be very familiar to you and some that will not, they allow you to choose the range of shops that you want to search from.

I’m off to compare laptop prices :o )!

Christmas Spirit

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Amanda (Oh Amanda) is hosting an oh so fun “oh oh oh” Christmas carnival/giveaway/fun thing over at her place and this week Christmas spirit is on the menu.  She has directed us to blog about what puts us in the Christmas spirit.

That’s pretty simple Amanda!

Let’s see…

Cooler weather

Christmas music

Christmas lights

Red turtleneck sweaters

Funny Christmas socks

Day after Thanksgiving shopping trips!

There are a few things that put me in the mood for the holidays.  Several of these have been delivered already.  It’s really cold here!

I spent the day shopping with mom.  It was CRAZY out there.  The parking was insane.  The lines were ridiculous.  The people were frantic.  What fun, right?
We ate lunch at Cheesecake factory and I was too full from yesterday to even eat my cheesecake (brownie bottom, cheesecake with hot fudge and whipped white choc. mousse)  So, if you’ll excuse me … I think I’ll go have it for dinner :o )!

I hope you had a great day too!

1. PUT AWAY MY CHRISTMAS STUFF!!! It’s about time, huh? I actually organized everything much better than last year. I labeled my storage tubs by room and they are snug in the attic! It’s a happy thing. I ran in Walmart tonight and bought snowman burner covers (WHY oh why?… 75% off just does something to my reasoning skills)… anyway, I also left the decor in the hall bathroom because it is non-Christmas type snowmen/snowflakes. The rug is blue with white snowflakes and I got the toothbrush holder for the kids that makes their toothbrushes the arms of the snowmen… and a snowman soap dispenser… and snowflakes hanging from the mirrors. I have decided to leave it all until I change over to Valentine’s decorations in there! BUT, I could not find my valentine tubs in the attic today so I’m slightly disturbed and feel a twitch coming on (I hate to misplace things).
2. Swept & mopped the front room and kitchen/dining room. There was wax down the hallway (wood floors) from our power outage because the kids had to use candles to walk down the hall (yes we had flashlights, they just liked the candles). So I even scraped all the wax that has irritated me every day. You know when you look down the hall and can see the shading of something but just walk by time after time? When you finally do something and realize it took less than five minutes you think, “why didn’t I do this weeks ago instead of sweeping/mopping over it???”
3. Organized the top of the hall bookshelves. I guess because they are so high they have become a catch all. I pulled everything down and threw most of it away.
4. Took that little thing off the front bottom of the fridge and washed it.
5. Washed the trash can and lid. I had one of those silver metal trash cans in the kitchen, you know the kind that have the push thing on the little door… HATED IT!!! I mean it was cute to look at but functionality was 0%. It was terrible. I finally bought a trash can that I love! It’s the little things that make me happy!
6. Did izzy’s stuff… Gave her a bath, put her foot splints on… and put her in her stander for an hour. She had a good day today.
7. Made Emelia a dds appointment because she mentioned last night her tooth was hurting (oh no!).
8. Did all our laundry. Can’t remember how many loads today, but it’s done!
9. Had mom and dad over for dinner and to watch the OU game on tv.
10. Went to walmart (as mentioned previously) to buy food items … and milk.. and soy milk. I threw out all the snack food today. All of it. It’s a new day!
11. Had dad down for lunch. Matt and the kids went home with him and helped him gather broken branches. They got a lot done down there and I got a lot down with them out of the house for a few hours.
12. Reorganized the kitchen. With all the Christmas stuff gone it looks empty, but really really clean. I like that.
13. Called Office Depot to ask them what to do about my new laptop. The screen goes black about every 45 minutes and I have to reboot. Not good. They said to bring it back and exchange it for another. You know what that means? I will be backing up files (yet again) tomorrow to start over! What is up with that? I’m not complaining… at least it happened while under warranty.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving day full of great food and memorable times with family and friends! We are heading to Tulsa, USA for the day. Matt’s mom lives there and hosts Thanksgiving. I have my food made including spinach dip. (Lauren, you can click on the link to see the recipe!)… I made fettucini alfredo tonight and it was WONDERFUL!

Amanda and I spent the morning getting the supplies to make the ‘boyfriend’ a birthday gift. She bought a big cork board and then really cool argyle ish ribbon and paper and we decorated it. We covered it with different blocks of paper and then covered seams with the ribbons. We hot glued buttons over the corners where the ribbons crossed. We hot glued a wood frame in one corner, and painted a big L for his name on front. The colors were blue and brown so we painted the L blue and sponged brown over it. We found a cool cross in the Christmas ornaments that had the blue color so we put that on the front and then a gold key which she hung a key tag off of that read “key to my ?” It was really cute. She put lots of pics of the two of them all over it and all the tickets from the movies they have seen together. It is a masterpiece and YES I will post a pic when I get my laptop going along with a pic of robot baby!

Barbara, I do plan to continue time travel tuesday. I’ll try to set it up via the dinasour computer this Tuesday and the theme will be “travel back to last Thursday” so you can all share your day or something special about your day… anyway…

Izzy is doing great. She had a wonderful day at school yesterday. She is really enjoying learning letters, I think I mentioned that. But yesterday she helped write an E. She did lots of really good little things at school yesterday and it was just a good day.

Thank you all for blessing me everyday with your sweet comments, ?, prayers and friendship!

dyson vacuum cleaner

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

I’ve been seeing several bloggy friends buzzing about their new dyson vacuum cleaners.  I am beginning to think this will be the next vacuum cleaner I purchase for the following reasons…
It doesn’t lose suction.
It cleans bacteria and pollen out of the air.
You don’t have to buy replacement bags.
It has a five year warranty!

Right now if you buy an upright or cylinder, you get a free car cleaning kit!

I have had a bagless vacuum cleaner for a couple of years now, and really like it. It is much better than having to run out with a model number of the machine to find the bag that will fit.

I don’t think I’ll ask Santa for a vacuum cleaner :o )! But, this one might be worth it!  Maybe next year …. this year I’m still holding out for a laptop to be in my stocking!

Monday. Monday.

Monday, November 19th, 2007

It’s Monday (again)!!! It is cloudy outside here, but not too chilly (yet)… I heard it will be very cool on Thanksgiving! I think a shopping trip is in order… Anyway, we will be traveling to Matt’s mother’s house for the day of Thanksgiving. I told Matt as I was dozing off last night that I need to make a real list of all that I am making so I can “make it work.” I know that spinach dip was on the list… I have a pie recipe I want to try too! I decided that since we will be eating so well in the later part of the week we will just live on what we have for this first few days. I made chicken spaghetti yesterday and there is plenty left for tonight. I see grilled cheese sandwiches and fettucini alfredo in the near future. Thursday will be turkey day and Friday leftovers! YUM! Saturday we are eating with mom and dad. I think they are having ribs (I really don’t like ribs, but can make it on side dishes :o ) I have been asked to make potato salad. I need to make a salad and a couple dozen rolls for tomorrow (a neighbor died Friday so the neighborhood is taking the family a meal after the funeral tomorrow). So, I’ll be making my lists and checking them twice to go get everything.

Amanda is still sore, but she is doing fine. Robot baby turned off at exactly 3 p.m. yesterday and I really think she was relieved. Saturday evening I went with my mom to the mall and hobby lobby. We stopped at Chequers to eat dinner and Amanda was out so she stopped by to eat dinner with us. She came in carrying a crying robot baby. She had moved it’s neck too far back getting it out of it’s carseat. It just took a few minutes to calm it down. I thought it was funny that she turned to the table across from us and said, “it’s a robot baby for my parenting class, I promise it will stop crying in just a minute.” She is so shy I just thought it was great that she told them what was going on. I guess she has had to explain why she is carrying a doll around a lot. Especially because it looks so real people want to peek at her baby…

Church yesterday was really good. There was a guest performer yesterday morning that at first I didn’t “get.” But by the end of it I was really moved and could feel the strong presense of God in the church. Several people gave their lives to God and it was very touching. She was a speakier/singer and a little more country than I am used to. But, I am so glad I kept an open mind because it was great. Last night we had women’s groups and had a devo about memories being treasures. I reflected (in my mind) about my blog and how my memories are recorded. I can go back and see that God has been with me through it all. I know that all my blog friends are sent straight from God because you are all such a blessing to me.

Happy Monday!
