faith lift fridays ~ God wants you to succeed

God Wants You To Succeed!
He sought his God and worked wholeheartedly… so he prospered.
2 Chronicles 31:21 NIV

God wants you to succeed, but you’ve got to do certain things —

(1) Set an achievable goal. Then work toward it, one priority at a time. Most things fail for one reason – broken focus. So avoid distractions: “A double minded man is unstable” (James 1:8).

(2) Write down your plan and establish deadlines. Most people don’t plan to fail, they just fail to plan. Make a detailed list of activities and set checkpoints. Above all, guard and prioritize your time. “Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get” (Ephesians 5:16 TM).

(3) Visualize yourself attaining your goal. Talk and think in success pictures. Moses did. He made it to the Promised Land because “He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going” (Hebrews 11:26 TM).

(4) Stay informed. “A wise man will hear and increase in learning” (Proverbs 1:5 NAS). If you’ll pay for a good meal, but not a good book, you value your stomach more than your mind. Observe, read, and grow!

(5) Create a climate of confidence around you. You won’t experience victory while you’re talking defeat. Don’t rehearse your mistakes, that only reinforces your doubt. Remind yourself that your “sufficiency is of God” (2 Corinthians 3:5). With Him as your partner, your success is guaranteed.

(6) Help others become successful. “knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord” (Ephesians 6:8). That means conquering self-centeredness!

(7) Put God first. You are His child, He wants you to succeed. What father wouldn’t? So deepen your relationship with Him: “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.” (Job 22:21).

I got an email with a powerpoint presentation about this with a challenge at the end to people who didn’t believe it was a possibility to do a google search for verichip or mondex smartchip. Pretty interesting information.

Well, that’s two down…

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I felt sorry for Matt yesterday when he called to ask what we were having for dinner… I told him I had potatoes baking and planned to make some chicken too. He said, “anything but chicken, what else is on this week’s menu?” I replied, “I didn’t make my menu today.” He said, “You didn’t post your menu? It’s Monday!”
Normally he could just get me to switch days since I had the week planned. So, I didn’t post my menu this week! I ran in the store and grabbed a couple of steaks and voila… dinner. No chicken for my spoiled hubbie. (There is chicken in the crockpot for tonight though ssh!)
So, why didn’t I make a menu? Beats me. I don’t know if I am just in a funk, or if I’m thinking of other things…
Last night I kept thinking… It’s Tuesday tomorrow… What am I forgetting? Well, time travel Tuesday for goodness sakes! No travel plans today. Annie has obviously vacated the meme for the day! sorry :o(. I just completely forgot.
I’ve been trying to get a lot of cleaning and organizing done so that next weekend when I’m packing things will be at least clean. I have learned that if I put it all off until the last few days I am one unhappy momma!
I went to the church this morning for prayer. They have prayer on Tuesday mornings every week. I didn’t make it last week and almost didn’t this week either! Isabelle woke up the instant we said “amen” last night to go to sleep. I dozed off and woke up hearing Matt praying over her. It was really odd. I am so very cold natured. He brought her into our bed and I instantly felt so hot I threw off all the blankets and could feel the cold air from the air conditioning blowing on me, but I was still hot. He continued to pray over her for some time and the instant she fell asleep it was immediately very very cold. I don’t know if you believe in spiritual warfare, but I do… and there was a battle fought (and won) last night in our room. I left the house to go to the church and the instant I went out it started raining. I was glad I went, it was a good thing…
So, tonight Emelia has a couple of ballgames. I should have prayed for the rain to continue :o).
I’m off to hit my to do list for the remainder of the afternoon…

  1. vacuum rug in dining room
  2. vacuum rug in front room
  3. vacuum rug in den
  4. make my bed (yes ya’ll I didn’t do it first thing this morning, but it was a rough night!)
  5. finish laundry
  6. clean bathroom in my room

That’s about it. I’m setting my timer now!

week in review

Monday, September 24th, 2007

This week has been a blur… Izzy hasn’t slept very well the past few nights, so as a result… neither have I ;o). Monday must have been pretty mundane, because I can’t remember anything interesting… Tuesday we spent the evening at the ball field watching Emelia’s games… Wednesday I cleaned out my closet, and kept Iz home from school (mental health day)… Thursday felt like Friday, ALL DAY… and then Friday was a busy busy day. We went to Bear, then school, I ate at panera with my brother … and then had dinner out with mom and dad. Saturday we stayed in all day! Had chinese carryout for dinner and leftovers after church today! Love that. Church was good today. I missed tonight for dinner at mom & dad’s. It is my daddy’s birthday! We had grilled steak, huge homemade hot rolls, fresh corn on the cob, pasta salad, salad, blackberry cobbler, and cake. It was good! (I didn’t eat the cobbler because fruit is yucky!)

Thanks for your outpouring of love & prayers for Izzy this week.

Tonight I just can’t seem to compose my thoughts in an articulate way, not that I ever do…really… but, I am very thankful for you. I love reading your posts, it’s truly like visiting you each individually. If I don’t post long comments it’s usually because I’m holding Izzy or feeding her while reading your blogs so I am commenting with one hand. I’m thankful for my parents, for my dad on his birthday… for my family, my sweet kiddosfor Izzy, she’s such a fighter and such a miracle. I’m thankful for God’s love that fuels my life everyday.

faith lift fridays ~ are you ready for bigger things?

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Are You Ready For Bigger Things?
You… enlarged me when I was in distress.
Psalm 4:1 Amplified Bible

Did you know that the hermit crab looks for a shell that fits him, then lives in it until he outgrows it? At that point he has to scurry along the ocean floor and find a bigger one; it’s a process that repeats itself throughout his entire life.

Are you clinging to something that no longer fits you, just because it’s easy and familiar? David said, “You… freed me when I was hemmed in and enlarged me when I was in distress.” To develop and grow spiritually you must be willing to move out of your comfort zone and deal with a little ‘distress.’ What worked for you yesterday may not work today. Maybe it’s a job you’ve outgrown, a relationship you need to re-examine or a behavior you need to change. Regardless of what it is, never become so ‘settled’ that you can’t let go and move on when you need to. Patience and persistence are admirable, but they won’t work in situations you’ve outgrown. Instead of hanging in and trying harder, at certain points you have to stop and ask yourself, “Is this situation good for me?” If you’re not sure, ask God for “an understanding mind [to]… know the difference between… right and… wrong” (1 Kings 3:9 TLB). His Word says, “If you need wisdom… ask [Him], and He will [gladly] give it to you” (James 1:5 NLT).

When God says it’s time to move on, it’s because there’s another shell out there that will fit you even better. But you can’t take occupancy until you vacate the old one. So how about it – are you ready for bigger things?

you mean it’s not friday yet?

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

I woke up thinking it was Friday! All day I keep having to remind myself it is Thursday. Why? To me the weekends are busier than the weeks so it’s not much difference… but, this week is just off for some reason.

Well, me & Izzy took the day off yesterday… sort of. She took the day off and I deep cleaned my room and reorganized my closet. Whew! It was a lot of hard work! I had all this stuff pulled out of my closet piled on my bed, stacks to throw away, donate, put back etc. and I just had this very overwhelmed dizzy feeling. I immediately asked God to help me finish and before I knew it I was done! Isn’t God awesome? He even helps with silly closet cleaning!

I want to thank everyone who commented on my previous post about Izzy. I hesitated to write that post because I do believe there is so much power in our words and I try not to speak any negativity especially in regards to Isabelle. It was late Tuesday evening, I was tired and just wrote it. The prayers have been great and I really appreciate you guys so much. There was a question about massage therapy. Izzy sees Bear who is a massage therapist on Fridays. He does rolfing which is deep tissue massage and has been focusing on her legs and hips the last few weeks. He is really good with Isabelle!

On that note, I talked to Camilla when I picked Izzy up today and she said Izzy did great in therapy today. She did tall kneeling and she said Izzy kept her knees bent and was really moving a lot which is good. I really appreciate Camilla, she is a wonderful therapist for Izzy!

Karen & Sheryl & Nancy & Karen gave me the “you make me smile award.” All four of these ladies make me smile!!!

I’m giving it to everyone who commented my previous post because all your prayers made not only my face smile, but my heart smile as well… and I realize there are about forty of you, but since I’ve gotten it four times I think it’s okay :o)… Please take the button and pass it on to those who make you smile!
