I’m sitting here (with my sidekick Izzy by me) looking out the window, it is still raining. Not sprinkling, raining. It did stop for a couple of hours yesterday, but when we came out of church I could tell it had downpoured while we were in… I’m not complaining. I know that we won’t all float away, God promised that. So, I just thank Him for watering all the beautiful flowers so nicely and soaking the earth. I am imagining all the fires that are being prevented from this rain.
So, Gail and Stacy both mentioned liquid creamers for the coffee. Gail even sent links to websites. I went yesterday with the goal of finding these creamers. I bought international flavors hershey chocolate with caramel I think. Miss Paula mentioned liking the Mocha foldgers. I have so much to try, very exciting. Then Jenna discouraged me from using splenda, she and I see eye to eye on those artificial sweeteners. So, this morning I made my first cup with the tablespoon of the new creamer, and 3 tsp. of sugar. It was actually good. I think it’s funny how many people either hate coffee or really love it. Amanda loves starbucks and several of you suggested different drinks there. She usually talks me into a drink there when we are at Target. I have tried several and in the past if they had a coffee flavor I pitched them (I’m a new woman now, so I’ll try again), usually opting for hot cocoa. Isn’t this just fascinating stuff? :o)
At church last night, the pastor was talking about leadership, not in the way I would expect. More about courage and character. He said courage is faith in action. He also mentioned that there have been studies done that show the people who acheive their goals write them down. I am going to start writing my goals down. He also talked about living a yuck life and made an acrostic to define his thoughts… y – yesterday, living in the past, being caught up in what was or could have been; u – unsupervised, not being held accountable to anyone; c – callused; and k – killjoy, no fun to be around, someone who just sucks the life out of you. I certainly don’t want to live a yuck life!
Izzy had summer school yesterday, for some reason she was so cranky there. She starting being fussy while I was getting ready to take her and then I noticed when I picked her up she was still very vocal and a little stiff. I’m not sure if her tummy was upset from her lunch, or if she just didn’t want to be there. I can’t wait until she can tell me what’s wrong instead of playing the guessing game… I’m just glad that she does show me when she is uncomfortable. She slept really well last night and so far this morning seems to be doing good. When I heard her and went in to get her this morning she smiled and was glad to see me! I showed her the view out the window and we talked about the rain. I usually spend some time first thing in the morning in prayer over her too. She is a sweetie. Prayers are welcome btw.

It’s funny to follow a recipe with a diet devo huh? I have had some good laughs at the comments on the diet devos pertaining to recipes and food. You have to eat for goodness sakes, the point is to just be smart about it right… Anyway, here is day 19. I sent out several of these books yesterday, so if I promised one to you expect it soon.

Because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps … Who his own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.”

It is good for us to remember, as we sit feeling sorry for ourselves because we may not indulge in tasty pleasures, that our sacrifice is not really so great when we compare it to the many sacrifices Christ made. What we are doing is indeed a sacrifice, but for self rather than for others. Christ sacrificed for us in order that we might enjoy life to the fullest. Let us learn from the sacrifices of Christ and remember that He has given us the power to overcome any temptation that might present itself.

Today’s thought: Christ has conquered temptation and will be with me!

Hope you have a great Thursday!

Oh, you SO light my fire when you talk about goals!!! By coincidence, I’m posting on goals tomorrow (on the take charge blog).

It is funny about the coffee – I like my coffee plain and simple (no flavours) but I like flavoured tea (vanilla is my favourite – and wherever I am in the world I buy some vanilla because it’s all different and all delicious). Now, where was I? πŸ™‚

I am just finishing my work day but I decided to take a quick break before I do tomorrow’s to-do list.

Have a good day, Annie and Izzy (sidekick – love that)!

I’m not a coffee drinker, and I have to admit that out of all the artifical sweetneres, I choose Splenda. Why don’t you like that one either ?

Prayers for you and Izzy and all, Annie !

How much weight have you lost in 19 days ? (The best I could probably hope for would be 9 pounds if I was exercising/doing cardio and dieting like crazy !)

Hello, Annie,
My computer has been so slow in the past week, and it somehow changed the directions to Greek! It is so funny to navigate around it, trying to figure out what is what (and a waste of time!)
Anyway. I am so glad Izzy responds to your presence. It is a good sign that she can express her feelings.
I had to stop drinking coffee when I began consulting with my homeopath.I never really liked coffee, but I drink it because C likes to have a cup first thing in the morning. The ban helped me assert myself in that and i now have a cup of green tea when we get to work.
I am going to post some lines of your devotions in my getting fit blog. I just wanted you to know.
All my love,

fun exploring all the fab choices!
I know you know, but it’s always good to hear, you, Izzy, and your family are in our prayers.
Also, responded to your ipod comment back on my blog, so I didn’t hog your comments space.

These meatballs look so tasty – and the devotion is “filling” as well. πŸ˜‰ I’m so glad I took a moment to pop by your blog today. It’s absolutely lovely. Can’t wait to come back and visit again soon. Wishing you a wonderful week/weekend.

I like the “Yuck” life analogy. I don’t want to live that life either and am very happy that I can live a life of service.
You know I’m a coffee drinker – every day! – any time of day! After I had my surgery, I no longer eat sugar (4 years now) and the doctor told me to use Splenda instead of any other sweetener. It’s a staple at my house!
Thanks for the devo and the suggestion of writing down goals. That’s something I’ve never really done, but think I will now.

annb wrote on June 28, 2007 - 5:57 pm

I am drinking Mocha Fusion right now!!! I do think you will like it. If you stir it with a wisk it will get a little foamy!!!

Can I just say thank you for being my supervisor? I don’t want to live a yuck life either. I’m so very thankful for you. If I wasn’t accountable to you, I’d have given up the diary by now. YOU ROCK!! (Oh, yea, I think I need to accept your reward! πŸ˜‰ )

Oooh, balancing checkbook and organising your purse (handbag) – two of my favourite things! (Just in case you had any doubt that there’s a screw loose).

So green’s your favourite colour???

Those meatballs look divine!

I love the creamers. My favorite is French Vanilla but also like Hazelnut and Armaretta. 3 tsp of sugar!!!!!! Annie, that’s a LOT of sugar. A mother speaking – you know-once a mother, always a mother!

Annie, when I read about your interactions with Izzy my desire to spend time with you in person always increases. I’m picturing you showing her the view out the window and talking to her about the rain and I’m thinking, I really want to meet this Annie!
But then I think, Oklahoma is so far away! Hmmm, not for God. Maybe someday…

What happened to one teaspoon of sugar, my friend??? Actually, I am a sugar addict, so I know I would use three. The meatballs sound wonderful. A. is better this evening since he took his antibiotic–I think that was the answer for him. I am so relieved. Don’t wanna live a yuck life either.

Hey, landed on your blog, nice stuff. I found a cool new tool for our blogs… It helps get latest news for our keywords directly on to our blog. I added it on mine. Worked like a charm.

I can’t get on board with the coffee thing. Sorry. I enjoyed the “yuck” life message. I don’t want to live one either. I need to get it together. The meat balls look fab!

I love my coffee and I’ve gotten myself really hooked on the Internationl Delights “Southern Butter Pecan” flavor one. Yummy. Otherwise I just drink it with plain cream.

Thanks for the recipe. Love reading about you holding Izzy in the morning talking about the rain. Such a sweet picture. She is in my prayers–for sure!

First of all, what can I say about coffee? I live in the land of Starbucks Coffee–where there is a coffee shop practically on every corner! πŸ™‚ I LOVE coffee and hope you can truly join the land of coffee drinkers. My favorite is a Grande, decaf, lowfat, sugar free hazelnut latte. πŸ™‚
I loved your comment about living a YUCK life. I surely don’t want to live that kind either. t is real easy to become a killjoy at work when others around me are being one. Thanks for the thoughts.

I’m glad that Izzy wasn’t coming down with anything and seemed to be feeling better the next morning!

It isn’t going to stop any time soon. I looked like a drowned rat when I got to work. I left my umbrella at home by accident.

That recipe looks good!
Glad you found some creamer…..I tend to use splenda but maybe I need to know why it’s not good, I thought it was better than the other sugar substitutes?
